- This week I have a crew member for the day and go and visit the Battle of Bosworth or Bosworth Field as it's also known. This was the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses, the civil war between the houses of Lancaster and York and where King Richard 3rd lost his life. We also cruise to Market Bosworth to visit the Battle Line Railway that is operated by the Shackerstone Railway Society to board an old train. The Ashby Canal is full of history and I've really enjoyed my time here and I'm so excited to continue my adventure over the next few weeks to see what else this wonderful canal has to offer.

Ahoy Heidi and Bonny - Great seeing Jackie ... she is looking really well. I love how the music is coming along .. if you keep it , I think it will need a "winter" name as it has that sound and feel. I always love your videos and this is no exception. I knew that making music was complex but it is REALLY involved, isn't it? It seems like the continuous cruisers on the canals are a lot like a very large family that you meet up with every once in awhile and catch up on all the canal happenings. Another great VLog, and good to see Jackie again (I hope I spelt her name correctly). Another advantage with double crewing is that, during the autumn, you can pick the fruit other people cannot get to. Mum and I have done this several times in the past, with her at the bows (pointing out where the fruit are, and then picking them), and me handling 'The Black Cat', trying to hold her in position while not getting in the way of other boats. Mum then makes truly AWESOME 'Jokers Jelly' ('Jokers' because it is made with wild fruit). I swear that, on occasion, the boat gains another inch in her draught!

I just moored up after cruising 60 miles today. A long day I know but I want to stop a couple of days here so it was worth it.
The best part of the day is that moment you take your shoes and socks off after being on your feet all day and then putting your video on to chill with your feet up and the cat on your lap.
60 miles ???! Are you on a river ? 😂😂 it takes me weeks to do that 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I'm still on the canal but put in a 17hr day today. I'm heading up to Liverpool for some work so I thought I'd better get some miles done. Got about 30 miles left so I can be more leisurely from here on

Hello from Kansas! Glad to see you and Jackie cruising the canal! Life must be treating her good as she had a nice glow and complexation! You've got a nice glow and complexation too, but I chock that up to an ample dosage of rum! As spoken by Captain Jack Sparrow, "What is that dosage you might ask,,, all of it!!!!" LOL! As for the music, as you opened the side hatch, I expected to see Captain Jack Sparrow go sailing by in his dingy! A proper pirate song that is! I'd keep it!!! Thanks!

I appreciate how you have added new feature segments to your weekly vlogs. As an educator, and with Foxes no longer afloat, have you considered adding a deeper look at the history of each canal ? That was one of the aspects I really enjoyed about their channel that is missing. You could even approach it from the standpoint of pirating, danger, intrigue, with canal over time.
I’m afraid that’s not really my thing …. I just show life afloat and my own weekly adventures …. I work full time and it would take so long to research it all when there already fabulous channels like Gary Captain Phillips who already do this 😃🏴☠️

Hey up Heidi, I met you a few years ago when you popped in my shop (Glorious homes) in Sandiacre on the Erewash, I think you were having work done at Paul Barber's. How could I forget the Rum Wench such a brilliant unforgettable name. Since then we have acquired our own NB. Needed at lot of restoration but loving it! Decided to re name it - "Ripping yarns" Thought I would check if anyone else was using the name - turns out its also the name of a Spiced Rum! Have you ever tried it? I love a tipple too.
