You don’t have to choose. You can love them all. Personally, I love this! It’s so beautiful. I loved the low notes, the beatboxing (who knew there would be beatboxing in this type of song?) the set. It’s just so awe inspiring. One of my favorites. Home Free has put out so many good songs. And they write a lot of their own stuff. Their latest album So Long Dixie has 12 originals on it. Their latest song is a pirate song called Skull & Bones Chance wrote for a game of the same name. Lots of bass in it! 😍
I have also heard all three of the versions you mentioned. They are each unique and good in their own way. That said, Home Free is my favorite of the three groups, so I tend to go to their version more readily.
I love all three versions. Same song, different feel for each version. In the Voctave version it is so impressive that Mark hits that high note and holds it so long, especially given his physical issues (which is why he was on a stool for that - he previously mostly sang standing for better breath support). One thing I particularly like about this version is the way they pronounce "I am" as if it is a single word/name, as it was used in the account of Moses meeting God via the burning bush.
They did a lovely trilogy recently…..Austin wrote all 3 songs….really lovely……”STARGAZER TRILOGY “….It has 3 Chapters…..Chapter 1…”GIVE ME A SIGN”……Chapter II…”STARGAZER LILIES “…..Chapter III…”MR”……..It has Austin’s lovely lady in them…Amberly….It so obvious of how in love they are…so beautiful 🫶🏼❤️🫶🏼
Love all three, and I am a diehard Home Fry but for me the Voctave versions stands a wee bit above this cover and the PTX one; the addition of Mark Lowry singing the lyrics how he intended (vs an interpretation), plus their amazing dynamics and harmonies is just perfection.
