Good job getting your point out. I used a tall metal step ladder, a pipe, a chain, and pulled it with a chain-fall.
My problem was similar in that the 1/2 hp Goulds pump, wouldn't sucked the water 20' out of the ground. I also thought my point was bad, and tested it as you did here. Mine wasn't crushed, as yours was, but didn't flow any better than yours did either. Got a better sand point, and still no water. Turned out the jetting and venturi in the pump, was wrong. Swapped it over to the recommended parts, and voila, works fine now.

You might have an air leak in one of the fittings to make it not pull water. The point has enough holes working to fill the pipe when you get it into the water pocket

My favorite part of this video is there's a bucket that says do it right in the middle of the screen.I know it's frustrating as hell when things don't go right Especially When drilling a well.
Ha yea, but also I'm not exactly a "measure twice cut once" kind of person. I usually start cutting, and then realize I should measure :)
So this is a follow up video to your prior shallow well drilling video as it's in the same place. However, this is a different well as the other one was a pvc casing with a pvc pipe inside. Any explanation what happened to the prior well?
I just wanted to try different methods. I ended up sticking with the sandpoint in the other video.
are you certain the point didn't smash through a rock below? Those things can absorb a ton of force and if you drove a new point, it would have already been cleared in that same hole. That sucks that this occurred either way. Also even though it buckled in, if that was below the water line, it would not lose vacuum. But definitely not what a point should look like! I would guess a loose coupling caused the loss of suction. Did you dope each joint as well?
Very well might have hit a rock. I put a new point into the same spot and it worked fine, so maybe the broken point moved it out of the way. Who knows
I surprised the pipe wrenches didn’t break. A coworker broke a pipe wrench using it sideways.

Once you get it to move a few inches it gets easier it's getting it to move the first time
Was that the Water Source well point? It's made in china and it gets a lot of bad reviews. Thanks for posting a link to a good one. The Simmons is a 60 guage whereas the Water Source is 80 guage which can filter out finer sand, but if the Water Source breaks, it's useless.
Yea it was water source. Not great quality, but I was building this during the pandemic in 2020 and supplies were difficult to come by.

So if you’re going to go through all the trouble of pulling the whole piping and sand point out, wouldn’t you plan on putting in all new piping and a new sand point? It doesn’t seem to make sense to me to put all the old stuff back in! Just sayin’.
Yea the well point was busted but the piping was fine, so the same piping went back in.
