Norah Jones has another wonderful song "Don't Know Why" Her voice is simply amazing.
"a" nother?
She has a lot of amazing songs!
Norah Jones is a legacy artist, her father was Ravi Shankar, he introduced The Beatles to traditional Indian music, and he also inspired George Harrison to put together the Concert for Bangladesh, which was the first notable rock benefit concert.
This was a huge hit for Norah, her first. She is a songwriter, vocalist and musician (piano). You should also check out Don’t Know Why. She has such a beautiful, sweet voice. Thanks for this reaction. 👏❤️
She plays alot more instruments than just the piano.
I agree…however she did not write this one.
She won all the Grammys awards in like 2003. Don’t know why was her biggest hit. I love I’ve got to see you again, Sunrise and her covers of Help me make it through the night and 💕Turn me on.
I can't believe this is already 20 years old. But yeah, what a way to debut straight to the top of the charts with a beautiful song and album like this.
Norahs voice is unlike any other. It's soul full and inviting. "So all I ask if you to come away with me"
This is my and my husband song. We met in 2005 got together 2006 and here we are still 2023.
Her voice is like a cold drink of water on a hot summer day. All day beautiful.
Love this song! It's so beautiful! The only other popular song I know of hers is "Don't Know Why", which I also love. I don't know where she went or what she's done, after these two songs.
She's still around, still nailing it. During the shut in days of 2020 she was releasing many songs from her home on video, still great.
You should check out her whole catalog.... She is also a member of the little willies and 1/3 off puss and boots.
My wife and I just saw her live a couple months ago after being on the bucket list for years. Always love the laid backed vibe...
Don't know why is a spectacular song. That entire album is amazing and I am pretty sure she won a grammy for it.
6 grammys
There's a concert video of Winton Marseilles band doing standards with two vocalist Willie Nelson and Norah Jones. She plays and sings in "Two Weeks Notice" the Sandra Bullock movie...and in "Love Actually".
Speaking of Jazzy voices and poetry...you need to hear Poetry Man by Phoebe Snow!! Little trivia note: The man who taught George Harrison (of The Beatles) to play the sitar was North Indian musician Ravi Shankar. He is Norah's father.
I absolutely love Norah's take on Hank William's "Cold, Cold Heart".
She’s Ravi Shankar’s daughter, but didn’t know it until she was a teenager. She grew up in Grapevine, Texas, a few miles NE of Fort Worth, near the airport. Her mom’s a nurse. She went to the public school for gifted musicians and excelled. Her mother finally told her who her father was, and she was able to develop a relationship with him before he died and with her half-sister in India. The two sisters have recorded together and have both had Grammy nominations.
Love her voice and style!!!!!!! My fave by her
Norah Jones' dad was Ravi Shankar one of the greatest sitar players in history, he's has recorded with many great musicians, including the Beatles I am pretty sure. He is now deceased, I think she was an unknown off spring, but it finally all came out, her and ger half sister now have a great relationship. I love Jazz so she's my cup O' tea
This song is a one of a kind masterpiece
Can't believe, no one mentioned how sibilant the recording/mastering is on this album , I have the CD.
In all seriousness. This album was to my generation what Carol King’s “tapestry” was to my parents generation. The songs on this are beautiful and so unique to her sound. Love it
Chod and Dee, so glad you've discovered the beautiful talented voice of Norah Jones. She's actually been performing for quite awhile. I remember a local radio DJ saying that she was performing at a local club and that everyone should go check her out. Because it won't be long before it's going to cost a lot to see her. And sure enough her first album came out in 2002 and this was on it. The next song you should react to is Don't No Why off the same album. Absolutely love her voice. Great reaction guys!
Her duet of "Here We Go Again" on Genius Loves Company with Ray Charles is one of the best recordings ever, with the incomparable Billy Preston on the Hammond B-3.
Nora Jones and Bonnie Raitt live singing Tennessee waltz is a must must see
Her father is Ravi Shankar, the Indian sitar player who taught George Harrison how to play. She was raised by her mom in Texas. She is the real deal, a true musician like her dad and a hell of a singer. She hit it big about 20+ years ago with a Grammy winning album
FYI Norah won the Grammy Award for this song in 2003.
Nice song guys 👍
She did a duet with David Grohl at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors tribute for Paul McCartney. The song was "Maybe I'm Amazed ". It was beautiful and she was pure class. Such a beautiful voice. That entire tribute was so wonderful.
Norah was born into music
I like this style also and she does it justice.
About time someone reacted to Nora Jones.
Love this song so much - my favorite of hers - I think you would like The Teskey Brothers too - and they are a current band keeping the music like this alive - If you listen to them my favorite song of theirs is 'Pain and Misery' - the official video will show where they record using the old equipment to keep the vibe of the music authentic
My suggestion is that your next Norah Jones song to listen to should be 'Don't Know Why'.
I HAVE LOVED HER SINCE THIS SONG CAME OUT LOL/ BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY RY!!!!
Brilliant artist. Have 5 of her albums. Did you know her father was the great sitar player Ravi Shankar.
She has a great easy listening smooth delivery, cannot see any comparisons to either Janis Joplin or Amy Winehouse
They have few references. Thats why watching younger generations responding
this unbiased is so interesting.
Agree
Well I hope you watch more Norah, because she also plays guitar and piano.
That voice!
Glad you found Norah. I find her style and vocal talent is a strong influence on the young Angelina Jordan.
Norah also played the piano. Being Ravi Shankar's daughter was the best of musical educations. So beautiful and classy. Thanks y'all. Her dad's song "Prashanti" with Phillip Glass is phenomenal.
Dee.. she was only 23 when she released this, hardly older.
"Sunrise" is another great one of hers, I think it was released as a single when it first came out
Absolutely sweet. Her breathy voice, her lyrics, the arrangement just wonderful.
She is a piano and/or guitar player on most of her music too. Blues, jazz and country rolled together is her style.
The video is beautiful.
There are good songs, great songs and then there are a few beautiful songs. For me this is up there with Kathy's song,(Paul Simon). Great choice, nice, romantic and smooth.
If you take Nora Jones, Amy and Adele and mix them together or one at a time, you have Angelina Jordan....at 10.
Very excited about this reaction! Great job! She's a gem. Lots of comments on song suggestions from others and I would add One Flight Down as a favorite. This whole album is great start to finish. Listen to it on a lazy morning and just relax (if you can!)
I love the vibe. Yebba puts me in a similar mood.
She s sold over 50 million record a won many award she been around a while.
She can sing. Try American Anthem from the PBS Docuseries "The War". You will not be disappointed.
very relaxing song , if you havent check out the video
With most rock music, nothing beats a great high energy live performance. With rap, you know you want the lyrics up. But this song, I would have prioritized good quality audio over a 10 year old, 240p lyric video.
Try " Don't know why" by Norah Jones...it's beautiful!
Please check out Nora Jones( man of the hour)
Definitely take a listen to Norah Jones and Billy Joe Anderson from Green Day covering Everly brothers they do the whole foreverley record
Smooth, soulful, sexy beautiful voice. She's also stunningly beautiful to look at.
Norah Jones has possibly the most beautiful and sexy voices in music, and is incredibly beautiful to boot.
Her music is less about instrumentals and almost entirely about listening to her voice.
Norah Jones and Billy Joe Armstrong have amazing duets together check out anything from that album
You need to do "Don't know Why" that was her first hit.
Early 2000’s was her prime time although she has been making new music all along. She has one of those smooth dusky voices that is great for jazz or ballads. Excellent singer.
I enjoy her writing and voice.
But, I listen equally to the guitar🕶
She's one of Ravi Shankar's daughters. Check out her music video "Don't Know Why" (czcams.com/video/tO4dxvguQDk/video.html). I love her smooth, laid back jazzy style.
Us "really old" (70 yrs. young) people know her a Ravi Shankar's daughter. [I humourously threw in the really old for Dee's sake, as she referred to Nora as "old" (age is relative)].
❤
Check out "I've Got to See You Again", you won't be disappointed.
This music makes me want to suggest Joss Stone (spoiled) and Ray LaMontagne (Jolene). Joss’ voice is unreal (especially given her age at recording) and Ray is kinda the male version of Nora. Lovely voice and paints a picture in your minds eye.
You might try Ada Victoria. She is awesome.
Great album, too.
Other newer female Artists:
Sarah Watkins: Say So,
Allison Krause: New Favorite.
Find the live video of 'Don't Know Why', you'll see her playing jazz piano along with that amazing voice. czcams.com/video/GozYEBItOCg/video.html
Oh boy, when he asked if Norah Jones was new I cringed a little, I got to be honest. Oh, poor you who didn't know.
She's a diamond, one too often overlooked and obscured in this age of commercial and throw away music. But she's not "new". She's timeless. And will be fondly remembered by millions who love her.
Welcome to the club. Spread the word. [Let's annoy the Simon Cowells of the world, shall we?]
Please react to Andrea Boccelli
Hi ya'll Please pray for Hippie Joe he went to the hospital last night by Ambulance
Willburn
I adore her! I remember when this album came out. I recommend listening to Cold Cold Heart, The Nearness of You, What am I to You, I’ve got to see you again….she’s definitely not as popular as she should be for these tracks in my opinion.
What am I to you isn't from her first album come away with me. I recommend all her work.
@@moneygetten no, it’s off her second album. I was commenting on “Come away with me” and how I remember hearing it off that album, her first album. Then was making recommendations of her other work, regardless of what album it came off of.
@@amygenevalee6393 sorry,... I like lots of her songs: you ruined me, broken, one Flight down, nightingale, Rosie's lullaby, begin again, not too late, love me, for the good times, chasing pirates, December, good morning, deceptively yours, it's not you it's me, christmas calling, white Christmas, here we go again with Ray charles, tell yer mamma, lonestar, I'll be your baby tonight, come away with me, don't know why, gotta see you again, be my somebody, will you still love me tomorrow, unchained melody, thinking about you, carry on, summertime, wintertime, begin again, she, turn me on, cold cold heart,.... Did you knew she is also in the band called little willies... That's a great album too... I love her music, Norah is the best... Also check out Katie melua if you didn't knew her. I'm also a big mazzy star fan, fade into you, ride it on, flowers in December, I've been let down.... Great stuff!!!!
I'm not seeing Joplin or Winehouse, at best Patti Griffin, and that would still be a stretch. Try Griffin's "living with ghosts" album.
Hey Wiburn. Norah's trained smooth, calm voice is good. I like her vibe but seems range-bound and predictable after awhile. Karen Carpenter is the gold standard, the GOAT female vocalist. She had no professional voice training (also the first, best female drummer) for that beautiful, smooth, contralto, haunting voice. KC's voice is instantly recognized after hearing her only once.
You can pretty much randomly pick a song of hers and it is just as good or better.
Come away with me is hard to beat, but yeah... She has lots of great albums and songs... Also check out the little willies album with norah❤️
this music sets the scene...for lovers enjoying a Loving reverie together...spending quality time together reinforcing a sweet relationship...ty guys for this classic
Check out the Stones live!

Norah Jones music is lazy
