The weather at the beginning of May was quite chilly. The peonies and roses, which are normally in bloom for Mother's Day, were set back. The temperature in the second half of May rose drastically. Everything came into bloom at once. Sadly, a very strong thunderstorm passed through the garden shortly everything came into peak bloom. This month the azaleas and rhododendron in the North Garden finished blooming; various irises also put on a good show. The common ninebark in the front was lovely with their powder puff-like flowers. In divided the banana tree in the Jungle Garden and transplanted some of the pups to the Hot Border.
