- Miss Universe 1987, the 36th Miss Universe pageant, was held on May 27, 1987 at the HarbourFront Centre in Singapore. Bárbara Palacios of Venezuela crowned her successor Cecilia Bolocco of Chile. 68 contestants competed in the pageant.

At the time of her crowning she was the oldest Miss Universe in the history of the pageant. I believe she was 26. She was a beautiful, mature and articulate Miss Universe. One of my favorites.
M L Cecilia was only 22 and they were already Miss Universes who were 23 and 24
@@reprolover11 -- My mistake. For whatever reason I recall that she was considered an older winner. In fact the oldest woman to be crowned Miss Universe is the USA's own Brook Lee of Hawaii; ten years after the beautiful Cecilia.

A very sweet victory for Miss Chile. That same year, before Miss Universe, she competed at the Miss Sud America Pageant and she did not place at all. Miss Colombia won that pageant but what a reversal of fortune, Miss Colombia did not place at all when she competed at the Miss Universe which was won by ... Miss Chile ... Cecilia Bolocco!
Cecilia has one of the best reaction to hear her win,very cool,calm& collected.Kudos.Sad to see Mr.Bob Barker to depart.He gave the pageant an air of superior dignity that others cant. Bring in more Bob Barkers to host.

Despite her high scores and unforgettable semi-finals interview, Cecilia did not win with an unanimous vote (I doubt most of the winners did), one of the judges later revealed that he voted for Miss Italy.

Barbara Palacios Teyde is one of the most beautiful Miss Universe ever. I also like Cecilia Bolocco, very elegant beauty.

I remember this pageant very fondly. It was held in my country Singapore 🇸🇬 and i was only 12 then. I never missed MU pageant each year since. Love Ms Chile & the little sisters

At only 18, she did a fantastic job. However you could tell she wasn’t ready for the universe yet with her baby face. I feel for this child, you could see her tearing up not wanting to win the competition and just go back to Italy. Such a gorgeous exotic look that I wish more mediterranean classic beauties would appear on the stage. She was just a girl not yet a woman. I would see something not secure with her eyes here. Great job Roberta ❤️
