  • Hey guys, today’s video is about my Calathea Maui Queen Plant Diary. I hope this video helps you to take care of this plant. For me, she’s one of the easiest Calathea plants to take care of as soon you get the hang of it. It will look healthier if you have high humidity at home. Saying that, I have no problem with this plant at all apart from those brown tips but it’s not a big deal at all as long as the plant is happy and healthy. For me, she is perfect!
    Nonetheless, I suggest you watch my Calathea Plant Diary Playlist because you will pick a lot of care tips on how to take care of your prayer plants in general.
    • PRAYER PLANT DIARIES
    I also made a video, how to take care of Calathea plants. Check it out if you want a shortcut on care tips but it is straight forward.

    And of course, if you want to see my prayer plants collection plus care tips. Feel free to watch!

    My Calathea Maui Queen is drooping her leaves. What can you suggest that I can do about it?

      Hi, I had an experience with my Calathea Picturata. It was drooping during the winter time. It went dormant because of cold temperature and lack of humidity. There was nothing I could do about it. Even though I tried to increase the heat and humidity. I’m not sure what would be wrong with yours in the middle of summer, unless you live in a cold climate.They like low light. Do not overwater and they do love humidity. Hope this helps.. 🌿💚

    Myra I never seen calathea Maui in person and yes you are right this one is beautiful. Im just going to admire your calatheas collection for now since I cant grow one here in my place since i dont have a good humidity for them. Maybe someday when we get a new place i can provide a good humidity for them. thanks for sharing this beauty to us.

    Watching these as my Maui Queen is currently unfurling 3 leaves at once, while throwing up new shoots. Love her

    Hi Myra, I just looked at your video. Your Maui Queen is beautiful. I have one I purchased for $1.00 @ Lowe's on the reduced rack in the garden center. It was in poor condition but the beautiful leaves caught my eye. It has been a struggle at times with brown leaves. It now has two little ones as I had to cut back the whole plant. Thanks for showing your beautiful plant and how to care for it. I must say it is a very strong plant because I've had it for 2 years and it's still alive. I will try the pebble tray and see if that helps when the leaves grow back.

      Aww that’s awesome! I love this prayer plant. Mine is two years old now too. I agree with you. This plant is very strong and a very forgiving prayer plant. Even If I left the soil drying much, this plant is still doing well. Just the browning on the leaves that I really find it hard to control, even using rain water, still has no effect. It’s very needy when it comes to humidity other than that it’s happy. Goodluck Ally to your Maui Queen. I’m sure it will thrive in no time. Just be patient with it.. thank you for tuning in.. 🌿💚

      Thank you.. I know, the climate is getting colder and colder. The heater is on all the time. So the air is getting really dry. Three of my prayer plants are in the bathroom to keep them happy.. I hope your Maui Queen will be fine. Thank you for watching and stay tuned. 🙏🌿💚

    Hi. Yesterday I bought the same plant, and it was all perky and beautiful, and this morning also, but now in just a couple of hours the leaves drooped a lot. Is it something to worry about? Other calatheas I have don't have that problem, just this one. And it's just been a day. It is positioned with 2 more calatheas, in one corner of a room, so I guess the position (light) is good.

      Hello.. Maybe it’s just a little stressed out because of the travelling or maybe the temperature difference.. Let it settle down. Check if the soil is moist, too much or too little will produce the same results.. Try placing it in a north facing window then leave it alone.. Maybe it’s just acclimating.. Keep me informed of what’s happening.. 🌿💚

    Hi. . Lovely Calathea Maui ...I have one too, and it is looking great in my conservatory where I have a humidifier and the temperature is always optimum. . I have one problem which I am trying to get a answer . . some of the more mature leaves are get losing their shine and have a sort of powdery appearance. This does not rub off.. Do you have any ideas??

    • @MyraMurison
      @MyraMurison  Před 4 lety

      Hello, Thank you for your comment.
      I’m sorry I have never had that problem. So I don’t have any idea. It sounds like it has powdery mildew. Again, I have never encountered it myself but have heard about it. If your plants have powdery mildew, it needs to be dealt with straight away! Hope this helps. 🌿💚

    I have one calathea same yours and the leaves are getting yellow and after a time it gets dry. It is happing with the new leaves
    I use humidifier and i am watering the plant 3x a week as here is almost 40 degrees Celsius. Im getting tired of this plant. It is too much work and i dont see any improvement

    • @MyraMurison
      @MyraMurison  Před 4 lety +1

      Aww.. my plant is not perfect either. You have to remember it is a tropical plant which needs a lot of humidity and most calathea plants are finicky. You gonna need a lot of patience to understand this plant. I don’t use humidifier and I live in a cold environment and my plant is thriving. Getting to know your plant’s needs is the KEY. Just hang on there. I was like you with my Zebrina. It took me a while but now all my prayer plants are growing insane. But I totally understand how you feel.. 🌿💚

    Should we cut leaves if they’re drooping?

    • @MyraMurison
      @MyraMurison  Před 3 lety +1

      If they are drooping and dying, I think you should.. Sometimes leaves droops from lack of water.. 🌿💚

    My Maui Queen is in my bathroom with 55-65% humidity & 22 degrees
    But it’s drooping now
    Why is that? What am I missing?

      @MyraMurison  Před 3 lety

      Hi. The only thing I can think of is that your plant is going dormant. That happened to a few of mine over the year’s during the winter. They were in perfect condition then suddenly boom! I could be wrong. But apart from that I don’t really know. Hope your plant will perk up. 🤞🌿💚

      Aww.. you're more than welcome.. Don't be scared. Getting to know your plants is the key. You just have to be patient with them. They will love you back once you found the perfect care for them! Then next thing you know, you are living in a jungle in your home! Haha Anyway, good luck and thank you so much for tuning in! Much appreciated.. xoxo
