Thank you for checking out Swordhaven and providing us with your feedback! We are currently compiling a list of changes for the future.
What consoles
The icon at the beginning of each optional dialogue line,
goes along the lines of something I've always wanted to see in this kind of game
(i.e. always getting some preliminary idea of what development and depth said line points towards).
Hopefully that's not something you're planning to change?
Good luck, guys.
Hopefully we'll all get a cool new cRPG to play from your hard work!
Damn, Atom and Trudograd sucked me right in. Can't wait to give this a try. Keep up the hard work! @AtomRPG
I love the low fantasy style of this game and how its more grounded
Thank you for making atom rpg, I really liked that game
Iron Conspiracy? Time to get back to Baldur's Gate.
lol, literally the first thing i thought of as well
@@iamdopeasfcuksame for me
And they call it a mine. A MINE! Ha
I'm a sucker for the original Bioware Baldurs Gate games, and everything they inspired (PoE). This definitely looks up my alley!
Same here!
I didn't know the Atom RPG guys were making a new game, nice!
This team 100% deserves your backing! They've only improved with every game they've released.
One thing I'm glad to see in this game that I wish was more common in other CRPGs is vague/obscure portraits that allow us to imagine our character.
That way I don't have to struggle with choosing a portrait only to settle on something only vaguely reminiscent of what I originally had in mind.
Better yet, would be to allow us to have a custom portrait.
@@Celadonis-the-Lore-Seeker There is a 'Load Portrait' option on 5:07.
Backed on Kickstarter. Hopefully, it will become a very good game.
It actually looks good, kudos to the devs
Definitely adding this to my wishlist! Thanks Mort and ATOM devs
i love the little icons for dialogue options
more games should have them, especially RPGs
I spotted an interesting mechanic there at the end of the video, after you defend a cart from wolves.
There, by "monitoring the progress" of an NPC performing an action (repairing a cart wheel in this case),
it seems your character could potentially have learned how to perform the same action themselves.
I wonder how much this is integral to the game play of this title,
if you can potentially learn skills via quest-adjacent events like this one.
Is this one of this game's main "hooks", so to speak?
Lots of potential for build integration, or maybe "randomization" in a way, if that's the case.
Thanks for your videos!
I wanted to include it because it was interesting but the demo didnt really give me an idea of its prevalence or importance
@@MortismalGaming
It would be a cool feature, and pretty innovative, I think.
I don't know how many other games have used something like that extensively, if any did.
I've often seen cRPGs and aRPGs in which some special NPCs, "trainers", can teach skills specifically or by increment, when explicitly asked in dialogue. Already a cool thing for me, as I usually prefer that to the classic "add a point" or "unlock a skill" by spending your general EXP points in some UI menu.
I've also seen and liked the learn-by-doing mechanics, and they work pretty well in Skyrim and other aRPGs.
But, in my limited experience, I didn't play any game with a learning-by-observing system, which, in the case shown in the video, seems to connect skill unlocking to specific (mini?)quest completion in a cool immersive way.
We'll just have to wait and see to what degree this system will be implemented.
Thanks for the answer!
hm interesting, looks same like old classic Baldurs Gate's but in an exotic environment (that plants, lizarads in cave etc)
Me, like a fool, googling for "Adam RPG" 😂
Ooh, I like how they've gone with what seems to be a d100 system for the skills. Reminds me of the RuneQuest/Mythras tabletop RPG system. ATOM RPG was a great game, so I suspect the devs will deliver on this as well.
You had me at CRPG
Whether you endorse it or not, it would be nice to have a link to the crowdfunding campaign for a game in the description. Not necessarily even to back it, but because they tend to post a much more complete vision for the game there and often release news there.
Nice to see you talking about this game. I had backed the Kickstarter before your video just based on developer previous games but didn't get around to acutally playing the demo yet but it's nice to see it get more publicity so that it can it's KS goals.
loving the UI
Looks great! I will back this one for sure.
3 CZcamsrs I watch (Mort included) have called out this game, so I checked it out and then backed it.
Those marks next to the dialogue options
While I was hoping to hear of a game ready to play when I clicked on the video, after watching this, I will check out the demo and probably the Kickstarter.
Looks very good!
Our boy's cranking the content pump like nobody's business.
Nearly there man 300K ❤
Looks great, feels like the game has a lot of potential
looks great, ppl keep making infinity engine style games enough and eventually some of them will be as good as originals like bg2 and iwd2, but with more polished graphics 👍
this looks like exactly my type of game real low fantasy rpg thanks for showcasing
When i saw their post on Steam i imediatly got hyped
Thanks for this, didn't know a demo dropped, and the devs certainly deserve the spotlight. ATOM is a really cool game, and I can't wait to see how this one pans out.
wow, this looks promising, makes me want to play it myself
Definitely seems interesting
This looks good!
Trying the demo. Looks great!
looks decent for where it's at
Nice, thank you. Another one, i'll wait for 😂
Black Geyser tried this approach, but I was completely underwhelmed.
Hopefully this does a better job.
Why did you not like Black Geyser?
What's wrong with Black Geyser? It's especially good after all of the updates and it's going to get even better when they release the DLC which - among other things - will add improved modding support, flails, shapeshifting for druids, companion-specific epilogues, expanded romance lines, better unarmed combat, new spells and magic items, dual wielding, strongholds, fast traveling to quest givers, a full questline for one of the companions, and new zones with new quests.
Good show sir
Nice!
game looks good!
thanks
❤
Sure looks like a blast form the past but not "Pillars on a budget" as much as Black Geyser. The writing will be the most important part to make it worth playing in any case so wait and see.
In cases like these where the team already had some success and they say they have the funds to make it I might back it. Also if it is not expensive.
Atom was a terrible game with a lot of heart. It had huge problems but I am glad I played it.
👌
Will you be playing Unicorn Overlord?
Not unless it hits PC
Gronk!
any chance you might cover knights of the chalice 2
Nah its only loosely connected, you'll understand whats going on in the area faster but thats about it
@MortismalGaming na boss it's a whole game in and of itself kotc2
@@Zubilir Oh sorry, youtube gets confused and posts replies to the wrong comments sometimes. This was supposed to say that it's on my list but it won't be soon
Your honesty is admirable… it’ll hurt you financially but I’m happy you have standards
My house is paid off, and my monthly expenses are like $500, I'm not super concerned about losing out on some money these days.
Saw this game on the topseller Steam game list called Felvidek. Looks interesting.
For the RTwP, is there an AI editor? I tend to like RTwP over TB but only if theres an AI editor like pillars 2.
Algo
pillars of eternity
Ill be keeping an eye on this one.
I wishlisted this, but I will be sitting out any early access or crowd funding campaign. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the video. Following your DD2 review, and other comments in earlier CRPG reviews, I'm now somewhat concerned that this title, or others like it, will have a really developed first act, but become underbaked as the story progresses. Onward to 300k. All glory to the algorithm.
free comment.
turn based combat is my jam but damn it looks like a game from 20 years ago. good thing we can try out a demo version
Remember. it's a Indie game without the funding like Larrian
@stevenwoodward5923 I was talking more about general artstyle etc. but yeah, you're right, bg3 spoiled me and I guess I should work on my expectations lol. This one still looks fun tho
For an indie dev with limited funding I think it looks good. However, it's the writting and gameplay aspects that matter to me the most, not the visuals.
@@stevenwoodward5923divinity original sin looked better 10 years ago, and it was also a Kickstarter title
@@DenisKublitsky On one hand the graphics are worse. On the other, no larian shit writing.
The problem why fantasy games struggle to simulate the feel of IE games is because the Infinity Engine games are still beautiful to look at despite their age.
IE games look hand-drawn, even the EE versions look good.
In addition, they create atmosphere.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, newer fantasy games can be better, but even that isn't always the case.
What I also don't like about the newer games is the floating damage numbers and the highlighting of selected characters.
I like the IE game version where character portraits gradually turn red from damage.

Iron Conspiracy, eh?
Seems like wearing the Baldur's Gate 1 inspiration a bit heavily on their sleeves, but there's definitively worse games to draw inspiration from. And a whole plot about the Act 1 story of 'something's wrong with all the iron' could definitively be interesting basis for a plot-iteratively and figuratively.
Unicorn Overlord is one of the best Tactical RPGS, I have ever played. It‘s like programming a Robot but he is a Werewolf or Elf😅😂
First? First.
Looks very very generic and dull but that's a risk for low-fantasy games. Hopefully the plot actually opens up as the game goes on and they come up with something interesting to replace the usual magic system. Doing a full 100-hour cRPG with nothing but basic weapons and basic attacks sounds incredibly boring.
very sad they made it a fantasy game. all I wanted was more ATOM.
This looks like something from 2002. Who is their target audience i wonder, 40 year olds?
its made by an indie studio with little to no budget
graphics aren't the priority for RPGs anyways
You make it sound like a bad thing? The 40 year olds are part of the biggest spenders and larger section of gamers. Don't worry. You'll be there soon enough.
Yes. Anything that is made to remind you of Fallout or Baldur's Gate or other late 90's early 2000's games is literally made for 40 year-olds. The difference is that bad games stick too close to the nostalgia and good games improve upon the systems which makes them more suitable for any age group.
@@IanBalek Yes QoL improvements do matter to older gamers as much as new. But to disregard the past and to constantly jab at it is folly. We live in a world destined to repeat mistakes. Mostly due to a higher disregard to the past than previous generations. This includes gaming and gamers.
Welp seeing how my audience is about 74% 25-44 yr old men yeah I'd say so.
Devs: The game will be finished no matter what, don't worry about the Kickstarter.
Also Devs: There's stuff we want to put in the game that we won't unless you contribute to the Kickstarter.
🤔
That's not a contradiction.
What do you mean?
I'm SO tired of turn-base combat games...
Soooo..... Go play something that's not turned based?
Dragons dogma 2 just came out
there is an infinite amount of games that are not turn based that you could play
He said this game also has RTwP beside turn- based. So this comment is just a rant and not about this game.
Well then this channel might not be for you 😂
i hope we still get more rtwp crpg games, but it seems like with the success of bg3, more might start going turn based.
Rtwp rule!
I like that it will feature both RtwP and TB combat options.
