Can you do this in QBO in Canada with the T4A or 5018 slips? I can see the option for them in suppliers, but I do not see the option to add "contractors" under the payroll module
Hi Christopher. Great question! At this time, paying contractors with direct deposit is only available in the US version of QuickBooks. However, you can record your payment manually with a Direct Debit or E-Transfer Payment method after you've paid outside of QuickBooks. Here's how: (quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-ca/employees-payroll/can-i-pay-a-supplier-via-direct-deposit-using-qb-online/00/1254900). Wishing you all the best in your business endeavors. -Karey

Where it says to select name of account paid from. Mines always gets stuck and won’t allow me to, then I cannot process the payment. Despite the account is already chosen in the line above. It has happened several times and very inconvenient.

Can we make contractor payments recurring? It's hard keeping up manually.
Find the transaction in your bank register and click on it. then click edit. then at the bottom you will see "make recurring". enter the start date and frequency and you are all set.
I'm happy to guide you on how to create an automatic recurring payment to a vendor. Here's how:
1. Tap the Gear icon (⚙) and choose Recurring Transactions below Lists.
2. Click on New and choose either Bill or Check and then select OK.
3. Create a Template name.
4. Set Scheduled as the Type. This will create a series of transactions according to the schedule you set. When you choose to send it via email, it'll be sent automatically.
5. Add all the necessary information.
6. Select Save template once you're done

If you are a contractor and have been paying people as 1099. Do not go to payroll unless you really need it. Don’t let them sell you on the discount to try it. You cannot go back to contractor deposits from payroll.
