How to: Update Hyundai Navigation System and Software | Step by Step Guide (2023 NEW VERSION)

- I wanted to share this step by step guide on how to update your Hyundai navigation system software.
This method applies to all Hyundai models with available updates.
You will need a USB Flash Drive with at least 64gb
NOTE:
The flash drive will be formatted and all data will be erased by Hyundai's computer software.

I have a 2022 Kona Limited and just did the update. Love it!!! It did take almost 2hrs however at an early point it says you can turn the car off and walk away while it finishes. So i did. Came back and found a new slick/modern radio, you can now activate daytime dark mode for the maps (love this), the assistant is quicker-sounds better-has a new on screen interface, the map itself looks better. I've only spent a few minutes with it but im sure there is more good stuff to discover. Dark mode for daytime map alone was worth it.
Two things are super important.. one you MUST make sure the flash drive is formatted correctly. Some computers will do this automatically, but always double check. Secondly use a 64 or bigger flash drive. The site recommends at least a 32gb but this file is pushing 35gb so you'll get driver issues. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the video. I have a Kona Electric Ultimate 2019. After performing the update, the software no longer uses the full screen.

I've done everything you said in the video but my car doesnt identify the update files. It says there are no supported files. Any idea what could be wrong?
- try using a different USB drive and format it
- Make sure you are downloading the correct files for your make/model/year
- if it still fails, then you might have to take it in for service
Hyundai software system is not the most intuitive and can be very glitchy.
Software is not their forte.
I dowhloaded the program, in the program their are several files, 5 of the files are zipped files, do I have to unzip those files for it to work ?? When I put the flash drive in the usb, on top of the display it says momentarily ( reading usb ) then it goes away, when I hit the download button it says reinsert the usb and try again. This is on a 22 Tucson
Same thing here with a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. The car says "Reading USB" and then nothing.

@@BlueX880 Yes. I needed to buy a USB drive that could fit all of the data. I believe I got a 128 thumb drive. I plugged it in and it downloaded.

During May month v17.0 of their software will be released on all their cars. So hopefully your car also, if not then definitely coming December release.

try to Format the usb by using the Hyundai software on the computer.
The car will be able to read files once the USB is in the proper format.

i have updated the Navigation system to my 2021 Hyundai Sonata and the only thing I don't like it's the fact that when in reverse, there's a split screen. Tried to have the whole screen and went to dealership and they couldn't do it either. Anyone else having this issue?
It looked from the version update details that only the audio was updated

When are we supposed to remove the usb? Currently sitting in my palisade waiting for it to finish updating and scared to remove it too soon 😅
Never ever remove the USB if it is updating or it may result in data loss. You can remove it if the update is complete 👍🏼
But that's the thing.. the system doesn't really let you know when update is complete

Followed your steps exactly step by step and I got an unsupported filed error. Flash drive is 128GB and is formatted to ExFAT. Any tips?
Make sure your downloading the correct file?
Yup clicked Palisade and and the years 2020-2022 the car is a 2022
I don't belive you can upgrade cars older than 2015. Is that correct?

I need help! I have a 64gb sandisk and when i try to install the file into the my usb it won’t let me and it says “portable disk error and not supported” i did format the disk but i cant seem to directly download it to my 64 sandisk.
I am having problems Downloading with Navigation updater . Error code 3 : err_unzip_Fail_Module
it has to download to hard drive then it copys to the USB. Make sure Harddrive has room, too.
Make sure the drive is formatted for exFAT

I did everything but its not reading the USB drive. Man getting this Hyundai was such a disaster. Instant regret if switching from Honda to Hyundai smfh🤦♂️
Because you don't know how to make a usb drive...the Hyundai is a regret? I think the Hyundai regrets you being an owner.

The Hyundai has more features than Honda or Toyota! The software update needs to be on a fresh USB only used for updating the vehicle. It's not hard!!! Your issue is operator error unfortunately and not the Hyundai at all. Make sure the software you downloaded is for your specific model as well or it won't work.
Try to format the USB again.

It's always there. It will just check the if there are any updates.

It should tell you if it will format or overwrite the flash drive. Otherwise, it’s just another file or files added to the flash drive along with the other data already in it. To be sure to protect yourself, just make a copy of the data on the flash drive to your computer. If it formats or overwrites, you can just put the data back on the flash drive. If it doesn’t, you can just delete the copy off your computer. It’s as simple as that.
Sounds like it does format further in the video. So I’d copy the data off onto your computer to ensure that it is protected.

How does the navigation work? Do you even have a map to use where you live now?
@@Sir_Saul The navigation available in the car is the USA navigation, I imported the car from USA to Oman, because now I am living in Oman
