The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

How do you rank your top 3?
Jokic, Giannis, Luka
@@thelemonadelion4255right answer 💯
Jokic, Giannis, Curry
Jokic, embid, giannas
Shai, Shai, Shai
I can't believe Jason Tatum is turning 20! this year! how time flies
Pretty sure he’s actually staying 19 this year he just felt like it
Is he gay
The durability of a crispy potato chip is crazy😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the laugh! 😂
Austin Reaves is the greatest basketball player of All Time
Here we go.
Jokic wishes he was half as good as the undisputed goat Austin Reaves
I just want another Asian point guard going 20-5-5
A.R. > L.J.
He's definitely up there
I feel Jimmy Butler deserve a lot more credit. He’s the best player of a team that went deep in the playoffs in 3 of the last 4 years.
He wasnt that good after the bucks series
Naah. He definitely isn't top 10
If we're talking postseason it's hard to keep MJs son out but he coasts during the regular season
He’s better than luka so is shai
@@snupedummybetter than luka is crazy he not better than him in postseason or regular season
That’s right baby #1 is Trae Young
Nigga what
FAX🗣️🗣️
Finally showing the lollipop respect
Last season he had literally the worst defensive rating of all active players LOL
@@spideysense1847 we’re trolling
Good ranking. Ad is stupidly underrated for a guy who completely outplayed the DPOY in every aspect of the game while shutting the second seed and gave Curry and Kerr headaches on what to do with him on the court.
Considering they had only Looney to match up with AD, dominating was what one would expect him to do.
Like there are some players you can't stop, but Davis does a great job of slowing them down.
Also got swept
Anthony "when healthy" Davis. That's the reason he's not top 5, his health. Same reason why embiid isn't number 1, health
AD is one of the most impactful players in the league and was insane that 2020 chip run
Nobody sensible still views Jokic as a defensive negative, he's proven himself to be a good defender
He’s not good defender he’s not guarding perimeter , 0.6 blks per game for a center lmao ok he can’t box out to get rebound that’s it 😂😂😂
He’s not good defender he’s not guarding perimeter , 0.6 blks per game for a center lmao ok he can’t box out to get rebound that’s it 😂😂😂
@curtiszyr Oh dam you right, a center who doesn't guard the perimeter is bad. that's why Hakeem, Drob, Ewing etc were all such mid defenders 🤓
And using stocks to = defense in 2023 is just outing yourself as a casual lmao

@@MikeTheNBAGuy yea you only read perimeter defense but ignore the rim protection lmao . I mean KG guard perimeter and he’s 7ft so wrong he’s not a good defender. He’s all offense nothing wrong with that he’s still great and fmvp . You can’t have everything but you lot try to attribute everything to a player lol
Giannis and Jokic are definitely at the top. They’re talent is unmatched. Durant would be much higher if it weren’t for all the games missed due to injuries. He’s still a top 5 player in the game. 29 PPG on 56% shooting is deadly. Durant is one of the best. I agree on the Tatum assessment. Until the Celtics actually get over that playoff hurdle, Tatum will always be ranked in the second tier of players.
What Celtics playoff hurdle, you mean making it to 3 out of the past 4 conference finals? Not a celtics fan but their only hurdle left is the Chip
Durant cannot be ranked higher than Luka or Steph today, if he plays 75 games them ok. Anyways, numbers 9 sounds stupid, is a top 5
what playoff hurdle exists? the celtics has been more successful in the playoffs than 90% of the teams in the nba 💀
wow you just said exactly wtf jonny said. nice comment dummy
@xoam Miami, denver ring a bell ?
I'd switch KD's and AD's spots. They both miss games but when healthy, KD is a much better player.
KD also got injured off of an unlucky situation that would injure even durable players with Jimmy Butler landing on his leg. AD's injuries usually come from his frailty.
Agreed
Agreed, I think is the only thing I would change in this list. Maybe the 10th spot is debatable.
International Players are dominating the NBA, it's insane.
Beacuse the NBA as a league has become cupcake long time ago and the Europeans is about to pass us
@@jimmykarlsson2567 you don't know ball bro - all the best players in the world are in the nba and there are a lot more people outside of the us than inside it - so it makes sense you get a lot of foreign stars
@@jimmykarlsson2567 Cause the NBA has become AAU ball. And that is what US born players are taught. Foreign born players are taught fundamentals. US players aren't. That's why you see a guy like Jaylen Brown struggling to dribble with his left hand or the countless players who don't know how to run a 3 on 2 fast break. There may be only a handful of players in the league that can throw a fundamentally sound bounce pass.
For years already 😂😂😂
The way is insane. The how clearly is mostly brain. It makes Europeans look smarter, hah. Even a European had to write it for you to read it it :P
I love Dame. We went to the same college (Weber State) and I've followed his career since he was a sophomore. However, I think I'd put Jimmy Butler ahead of him. Jimmy is a far superior defender and is a better scorer than his stats would indicate. He also a dang good facilitator. Maybe it is recency bias, but the Heat have made it to the finals 2 times in the last 4 years on the back of Butler.
Butler and role players like Martin, Vincent and Struss.
It wasn’t “on the back of Butler”.
Bro Jimmy cannot compare to Dame on offense at all. He has his heat check moments but dame is consistently a top 3-5 shooter in the league
Martin and Vincent@@dynamicflashy
so over the past 20 years Miami are making the finals without a top 10 player in the league dang@@beyondspeaks
@@sulwhale3171 yeah it’s a well constructed team. Jimmy is around 15-20
Seems crazy how this era of ball majority of top 10 can get 5-8 assists while scoring 27+ ppg. Pace/efficiency/offense is crazy nowadays.
Assists are handed out like welfare sometimes
Assists have become very inflated for the last 8-9 seasons now. Simply because of spacing and three point shooting, those are easy junk assists to kick out to dudes that are snipers. Ball dominant players can easily inflate their assists with kick out bail out passing. No offense to Westbrook, Harden, Dame, and some other high assists guys, but they are not truly great passers. I think Westbrook is a very good passer and Harden is a very good passer, but I don't think they are anywhere near a Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Steve Nash, or a Jason Kidd. A lot of Harden's and Westbrook's assists are cheap and really not that impressive. And Dame never makes any spectacular assists, just mostly kick outs to three point shooters.
Also I remember back in 2000s unless it was a pass to a layup or a straight jump shot you probably weren’t getting the assist. If a jab step was used or even a quick spin off from the post then that counted as a basketball move and didn’t allow an assist. Now it seems you can pass pump fake side step then shoot and still get an assist for that.
even when i don’t agree with jonny im always so happy to see how logical his lists are. rarely does he ever provide a ranking without ample justification, and even if i disagree, i can see where he’s coming from. wish more in the space were like this.
Excellent comment
great job Jonny, i wait each week for a new video 🎉❤😊
That Austin Reaves joke got me. It made me look twice at my other monitor while playing NBA 2k lol.
love these videos on the current NBA landscape!
What I really wish Luka improves this year are his free throws. I'm not asking for 90% but maybe low to mid 80s would make a significant differences. Free throws are the only thing keeping him back from a scoring title
My take: Jokic is an above average defensive player. The playoffs showed that he has the ability to consistently play good defense. Far from subpar
Jokic blocks a lot of shots and changes alot of opponents shots. He also gets alot of Rebounds which stop the other teams possession and is a great form of defense. Without him denver would give up so many of put backs. He Clears the Back Board better than anyone in the NBA by far and that is a major part of defense. Cause the miss and get the rebound, try to get 25 a game. He's even made Gordon and Porter better at defense He's a top 5 Defender in the NBA. He might be the best defender in the NBA.
My favorite player since 2016. However I criticize him on the defensive end. The guy can play defense better than what he's doing, but he seems to only do it when needed to as oppose to doing it consistently.
Looking forward to Ant cracking this list next year
Good Take
I just made my top 10 earlier today and out top 6's are identical :D
I’m not sure if I would rank Jimmy higher than 10, but he definitely deserves it over Dame and some of the injury-prone guys you mentioned. 2 Finals runs in the past 4 years with the squads he’s had is more than Dame has ever accomplished in his whole career.
No Jimmy is not over Dame.
As a Nuggets fan I would fear Dame way more than Jimmy

Hey Jonny, great video, you could make this a yearly series, where you rank your top 10 before the season starts
Most of the NBA players who went pro in the 2003 NBA Draft, such as Carmelo, Wade, and Bosh, have retired, but LeBron, who continues to be active as an active NBA player, is truly amazing.
Was a very strong draft with a few Hall of Famers and several players who carved out solid careers for themselves.
Well, PEDs + genetics + media shilling at every turn
can sure make it _seem_ 'amazing', anyway...
not just active but still top 10, that is literally insane
@@031nathan 🤣🤣🤣Only casuals believe that man is a top 10 player in the NBA. Do top 10 players shoot 37% from outside of 3 feet?
@@roboninja3194 The man knows how to hunt for layups and dunks. He saves up for it by not playing defense anymore.
Jokic is viewed as a sub par defender, yet somehow manages to be effective on defense when it matters, even without any vertical. 2 or 3 years ago, Jokic actually had 3 game winning blocks in that season, and he is the last center you would think of to do that... Him just being big and focused makes him a better defender than most offensive minded superstars like Curry, Dame, Luka, Harden, KD...
Take KD off that list and I agree with you. KD was playing some of the best defense of his career with the Nets this year.
@@jaketerpening3284KD only swipes the ball on few posessions as a help defender. He is weak with his frame and can get bullied, like he did by Jokic, he asked for switch every time. He played good defense in GSW but there he played way more chilled on offense so he could play more on D. I agree that he is better than all others mentioned but he is very conservative on defense most of the time...
@@Shiljamannn Jokic was bullying AD man, I am not gonna knock someone's defense too hard because they can't contain Jokic one on one. He was definitely slower on defense with the Suns after coming off the injury and also needing to play 42 minutes a night and carry half the scoring load, but with the Nets this year he was playing great defense both on and off ball.
@jaketerpening3284 Man I agree Joker #1 but like u said Joker bad defender and people like AD, Embiid and Dwight when he played used to bully him all game. NOT Gonna he much defensive bigs challenge cause Basically everyone a PF
@@Bigedub101 Wait, I did not mean to imply that Jokic is a bad defender. I just think KD is better. But I think KD is a good defender, and should not be grouped with Harden, Curry, Dame and Luka. I don't think Jokic should be grouped with them either though

Johnny Arnett is the most underrated CZcamsr I’ve ever seen. I’m glad that he is because I get to feel like that I have a special little thing that no one else knows about.
Best basketball content creator on the platform (especially from a historical standpoint- and to be as young as Johnny is and know about people like Bob Petit. All the other Basketball content creators are just loud. Johnny is and always will be the basketball god
I wish I could find a good NFL content creator like JA is with basketball from a historical teaching standpoint.
Oh and ps- I’m only 28 so the history of my favorite sports and how we got to where we are today and who the all time greats are truly fascinate me.
Idk if that is something that my age group cares about but it sure fascinates me.
I know that Moses Malone was a bad Motherfucker (and a top 15 player all time) because of Johnny Arnett
💪
Honorable mention Playoff Jimmy!!
Love that you have Steph top 3. I think it’s a great list.

Gimmy Jimmy!
Good list. I would have put devin booker in though. Maybe even just switch for durant. In the playoffs he shot better and KD was just not at his usual level. Will be intereting to see, how next season turns out. Hopefully injury-free.
The first #1 haha the way I stopped stretching when AR popped up. 😂
The timng of you saying Austin Reeves being numero uno and me taking a sip of a hot cofee burned my tongue and sprayed coffee all over our breakfast table, just hilarious,. Lol 😂
Totally agree with these 10 players. I only wish there was a list of honorable mentions, to acknowledge guys like Jamal Murray, Devin Booker, and Jimmy Butler. And let's not forget about Kawhi. If he's ever truly healthy again, he's top 10.
i think his top 11-20 list at 11:40 counts basically as an honourable mention.
With my top three I go based on how scared opposing teams are to match up against that player, in my top three (Jokic, Giannis, Lukas) guys are scared to match up against them as opposed to guys like Jason Tatum don’t truly strike fear into the other team.
Say that to philly. Tatum makes em piss their pants

Jonny "50/40/90" Arnett.
to have Kd at 9 after he averaged a 29 point 55/45/92 season is so stupid. let’s not forget kd also lead the league in paint defence efficiency.
Do you care at all for the fact that he's been missing half the games in the last 3 years?? I feel like you gotta factor that in. You average 0 with 0/0/0 splits when you're not playing. lol
@@jonnyarnettdang 😂
@@jonnyarnettthe best ability is availability.
UNLESS IT’S MY FAVORITE PLAYER!
@@jonnyarnettyour argument falls flat when you have lebron and Ad ahead of him who are also injury prone who’s numbers are not as good as Kd’s. You been hatin on Kd since he joined the warriors Jonny it’s okay to admit that my guy!
@@jonnyarnett So the big issue I have is the way he got injured is not the way AD gets injured. Like this year, Jimmy Butler just fell onto his leg in a pretty brutal fashion. That's gonna take even the most durable player out. It's not like AD who just lands a little funny and is out for 2 weeks. His injuries strike me more as bad luck than necessarily a trend. At the beginning of the year he was carrying a Nets squad that sucked without him (even after picking up Bridges who has been balling out) and playing some of the best defense of his career. If not for the injury and then the team falling apart and him being traded, I think he would have been in MVP talks.
The big red flag I have in the rating is that Lebron and AD are ahead of KD and Booker, but did worse against the nuggets, and had a worse regular season record. That should imply that the Suns had better role players (seeing as CP3 was hurt for pretty much the whole series) but that is obviously not true. The Suns had probably the worst depth in the league, where the lakers role players were performing quite well. You can't base your opinion 100% on results, but results can be an indicator that you are not giving guys their due props.
Not having jimmy butler is crazy, he has been to 1 ecf and 2 finals in the past 4 years.
Yeah Jimmy over Damian at this point
No knock on Dame personally, but I would probably take Butler over him.
Great list as always Johnny….Love how u recognize that Jokic is first
The top 3 is perfect and a really good list
WHOA right off rip you hit me with Dame in the top 10 and I did not expect that. He's in my top 10 for sure. No one should overlook the insane scoring numbers he was able to put up. Walking bucket out there.

Thought I was the only one still putting Dame in the top 10. Glad to see somebody else giving him some love
I’d love for you to make a video of the top 10 or 5 players ever year in nba history or at least the last 30 years
top 10 players of the 80s 90s 00s, and 10s would be more feasible. you'd see a lot of the same names from year to year anyhow
@@themizdma671 true, maybe he could give out the names that pop up more than two times. Then only go into detail on those who made the top 5 per year list once so its not always the same names.
Only 2 problems I have with the list is AD at 7 I think that’s way too high considering his playoff inconsistency and he’s made of paper
2nd, small thing, but Jokic is not a sub par defender not that he’s not elite but he proved he can be a respectable defender this post season and I’m willing to bet he can recreate that success
If you are going to say that AD is made of paper, then KD is off the list completely. KD is the most paper player in the league right now and he doesn't play defense while AD is top tier on both ends of the floor. Yes, AD is delicate. But Kevin Delicate is a one way player and shouldn't even have been on the list due to his inability to stay on the court. Last year the guy hurt himself jumping in a pre game warm up and missed a dozen games.
Keep making these current videoed man you’re opinion is respected 👍👍
might be the first list on YT that I agree with literally every placement
LeBron does not belong on top 10
I have PG in my top 20 and don't have Harden there. PG averaged almost 3 more points and 5 1/2 assists less but is a massively better defender than Harden. I also thought it may be due to games played but Harden only played 2 more games than PG. There field goal percentage is also very similar.
Great Video as always
100% agreed with your List
As a Curry fanatic 3rd Place ist Perfect with a much larger gap to 4-10 then in the Top 3
Maybe Dame 1 Place higher and Butler for Durant due to Availability?
Im Sorry for Max Bad english I did Max A-Level a couple years ago😂
Much love from Germany 🇩🇪❤️
butler above durant is kinda nuts - ik jimmy just had a crazy playoff run and durant got smacked by jokic but durant was putting up rlly good numbers on a team he had only played 8 games with in the regular season
@@octaveg8056 yeah good take. Im Totally fine with that too.
You got me with reeves 😂😭😭
Great list ! All players are on the good spot from my point of view
We have extremely similar lists, top 5 is the same but I have Booker 10th, Ja 9th, and then restructured my 6-8 as KD, Tatum, LeBron. I simply cannot justify including Anthony Davis...a top 10 talent no question, but between his lack of availability and inconsistent on-court production (one night he's looking like the MVP, other nights he's a non factor) I just can't do it. Super frustrating player, because you see so many flashes of what he could be.
Ja has zero business being a top 10 player. AD IS consistent. He's a defensive superstar and a flawed offensive player that can occasionally get hot. He doesn't have any truly elite skill on the offensive end that allows him to be consistent, but his impact on the defensive end is always consistent. People just view him the wrong way.
Absolutely no reason Ja should be top 10
Great list Jonny. I would however put SGA top ten as he averaged 32 points and had a tanking Thunder team in the play-in. He is also a very underrated defender and I would go as far as to say he is a top 10 shooting guard on that end.
I thought he was a point guard.
Had a great year last year regardless.
You can’t just put him over Lillard based on one great season. Come on now. Lillard has been consistently good forever, this kid is starting to break out. No way he’s over anybody on this list
I agree with this list. As a long suffering Hornets fan I hope Lamelo has a great individual season this year. Would like to see him stay healthy and make it back to being an all star while finally making it to the playoffs.
When you said austin reaves I spit my drink out 😂
Tatum has great D, but is extremely inefficient for that volume ... those are not winning %
I would skip on Embiid - he has great supporting cast and should be capable of winning in the playoffs. Probably would go with Booker - I don't like Booker either, but I feel like he deserves the spot more.
Great list I would replace AD and Dame with devin booker and Jimmy butler
No Shai is wild to me but I respect your opinion
I love hearing you talking BASKETBALL. Every other CZcamsr or debate show just loves to talk about Lebron and everybody else. It’s so refreshing to see a person bring in so much to the topic! Such as
Age, defense, post season play, recently bias, clutch, ect.
People would think Lebron is the #1 player in the league and have AD out the top 10 just because AD didn’t play better then jokic n help Lebron win another chip. This is a true ranking and I love your un-bias takes!
I would replace embid with jimmy for the 5th spot.
Luka would be 2cd for me because i dont see Giannis or curry getting better.
I would put embid at 8 or 7 tied with AD.
Overall i have no grips with you list aside for the fact there is no jimmy that does bothers me.
Other wise great video.
Giannis is definetly no.2 and definetly getting better. He has been putting tons of hours in the gym ever since he came into the league and has many things to work on to improve his game. Luka is of course extremely good but not giannis level still.
@lamproskostopoulos365 Idk if you think Giannis is better than Luka. I ain't gonna fight you on it, I just don't see Giannis getting any better hopefully he can prove me wrong.
I believe Luka is just as good as jokic offensively, It's jokic defense and consistency that ultimately puts him ahead of Luka.
This is also why I have Luka at worse. 3, the only case for Giannis is his defense.
Thank you for making me feel validated in my irritation towards Jayson Tatum refusing to shut tf up about Kobe
FINALLY A GOOD LIST
Jokić is the clear #1 and has been for 3 years. He’s a top 5 offensive peak of all time you can argue.
Durant at 9 is actually crazy, wtf
He still ain't winning anything though.
Just great numbers
@@jimmykarlsson2567 then luka and dame shouldn’t be here lmao
@@quackmemes5410 wasn't too long ago when Luka lead his team to Western finals
@@jimmykarlsson2567 IDK look at the beginning of the year where he was carrying a Nets squad that sucked without him, then consider that the Suns were the toughest series for the Nuggets despite having no depth and losing their 3rd best player. He didn't win the ring, but they were probably the 2nd best team. It's wild that AD and Bron are both ahead of him and Booker when the had more help, got swept, and are just as injury prone. His injury also wasn't a sign of frailty like AD or Kahwi injuries are either. Jimmy Butler fell on his leg in a really bad way. That's going to take even the most durable player out. I don't knock him as hard for missing games for an injury like that, because it's mostly bad luck rather than an indication of more injuries to come.
Hi
I spit my water out when he said Austin Reaves 😭
I 100% agree with this list. You can argue a few spots but in all honesty i didnt really have a major problem with any of this list.
Jokic is far from a one-way player. Can't lead the league in DBPM multiple times without being an elite defender. Ok, he's not a shotblocker...so? neither was Oakley, Rodman, Moses, Laimbeer, Malone, Unseld, Sikma or Cowens and all were considered elite defensive big men for the same reasons Jokic is.
pretty accurate list
Broke my screen when I saw Austin Reeves, by the time I realised it was a joke it had a crack in it. You owe my a new screen buddy 😂😂
Stir together the three bigs in the top three and we get Wilt. efficiency and passing like Jokić, athleticism, defense, and free throw inability like Giannis, strength, scoring, and post-season woes like Embiid.
You go hard for turning that one headline into a whole video lol
Interesting video. Agree with the top 5 for the most part. Depends on if we’re prioritizing playoffs or reg szn. If we still have AD and KD in there even with injuries I think Kawhi should be above them, although Kawhi does play a lot less so that’s fair. Would definitely argue Jimmy belongs on here but that’s also if we’re prioritizing playoff success over regular season.
The talent in the NBA rn is ridiculous every player on this list will be moved around throughout the season
Yeah, it's pretty insane. I definitely plan on making a video about whether or not this is the most stacked era in NBA History.
@@jonnyarnettJonny the 80's, 90's and 2000's NBA was more stacked than today's NBA.

I guessed your top 5 correctly and I agree
Jonny, what is the video you would love to make but it is still early about it? To me it will be to see your video about Kawhi's entire caree.
I not mad at this list. Overall everyone appears to be basically where they should be.
1- Jokic
2- Giannis
3- Luka
4- Steph
5- Tatum
6- Butler
7- AD
8- LeBron
9- Booker
10- Embiid
Johnny I just want to commend what you said about dame it’s almost like you foreshadowed the Trade to the bucks
😂 I had to stop the video and laugh when I heard AR-15
So glad to see Jokic getting the respect he deserved. I remember his haters spewing shit that Embiid was by far the better player. I loved their silence when they saw their MVP being locked down by an old Al Horford in the playoffs lol
I think that Jonny needs to do a video on "Load Management", or whatever is going on because when he talked about Availability, I noticed that - aside from Jokic & Tatum - NOBODY in the Top 10 is averaging close to 70 games a season, #s 7-10 are averaging in the low to mid 50s, and 2-5 are averaging in the low to mid 60s.....it's crazy!!! With KD I get it, and Embiid seems to have chronic body issues, but nobody else on this list has had close to a career threatening injury...besides age, what gives?
