Son was always glad our Molly cat wasn't any bigger than she was. She had chosen him as her human and was strict about his bedtime. He had visions of her grabbing him by the nape of the neck and draging him off to his bed. Her busy boy was finally hers to snuggle with.

Poor little puglet; it was absolutely terrified. Best to sedate properly and take advantage by giving them a full check over - eyes, ears, nose, paws and nails, tail and body check. It's not fair to put him through it in his distress and he'd obviously managed to fight off the mild sedation in his distress. The owner would be better off trying these things at home to try to train him out of it.

So much like a toddler exploring mom's boundaries. I realized recently that I basically treated my dogs, cats and toddlers the exact same way. Lots of talking and positive reinforcement.

The kid that was doing the training and getting his dog to go threw his legs, I did the same thing (4yrs old wanting to mimic my mom) but mine was a Great Dane...I was dumb though, I grabbed his collar and went for a ride I'll never forget, got dismounted when he ran under our kitchen table. Good really did send me a dog when I was 6 years old. I had to walk a long way to the bus stop. No one would ever walk with me. But every day our dog Jack walked with me. Everyday, he would be there, waiting for waiting for me, to get off the bus. He would put his mouth around my hand and walk me to and from the bus stop every single day. He was my companion. I can still remember, how Jack how he would start wagging his tail and smiling and walk to me when I got off the bus. That show of Love from my dog was such a BIG BLESSING to me. Such a Blessing you have no idea.

Beautiful doberman. My dachshund sounds like a doberman. Neighbors finally saw him outside the fence and their mouths dropped open in confusion. I always had big dogs. Bud was dumped and found my doorstep when he was grown but still a pup. Longhaired dachshund. After 10 years his intelligence and instincts and the wisdom he embodies still blow my mind. I've had smart, good dogs. Bud surpasses them all. His problem solving skills helped get him rescued when he slid down the slope of our yard on a solid sheet of ice as smooth as glass. I couldn't get to him without needing rescuing myself. He got himself to where the neighbor could roll out a rug for him to climb on so she could pull him to her. She had spiked boots. it was 4°. So scared he'd keep trying and exhaust himself. I didn't want him laying down. He was leashed after that so I could haul him back in if the 4" of solid ice was too slick for the tank of the dog kingdom. We really did not realize our backyard slope started so close to the house.or I woulsn't have let him go out there. My sister watched him slide all the way to the back fence. While standing still! That storm was quite the adventure. Not even mail delivery.
