    I am a local, born and raised in Vero Beach. I also graduated from USF so.. I have experience with clearwater/tampa area. I would say that I love the Atlantic Ocean and the beaches in Vero Beach way more than the gulf. Vero Beach is my favorite place in the world to live, but I do love seeing the world. I have been to many places around the world, but nothing is like home. It is a hidden gem, but don't tell too many people about it. haha just kidding.

      I'm also a native of Vero Beach! My family has been there over a hundred years! Vero has the best beaches on the east coast! The only con is all the Yankees moving in and trying to ruin our beautiful hometown 😤

    Yes, giving away my age. Lol I remember when Vero Beach had nothing on US1 but woods and route 60 was also woods on both sides. The Vero Beach highlands had like 7 roads in the front, the back was all woods and dirt roads. Actually all the way south on US1 to Stuart was all woods on both sides! Lol But the Beach was so nice you could go anytime and pick up the huge shells 🐚 that now is extremely rare. And we had a drive in theater in Vero and Ft Pierce. I think the drive in that was in Ft. pierce didn’t close until the early 80s if I’m not mistaken. Yes, Vero has been my home since 1968!

    Yes, Vero is truly an amazing place. We spend a few months a year in our John's Island home. The rest of the year we stay in Malibu, CA. We love the West Coast, but enjoy the East as well.

    I definitely miss Vero. It's a beautiful city. Just about all of my relatives born and raised down in Vero. My mom and aunt worked at Riverside and at the time opened a small children's consignment shop. My father maybe 30 years ago opened a small pizza shop as well out there and two of my cousins worked at the Italian restuarant you had mentioned. (Love the pizza there.) left Vero when I was 6 and then moved back when I was 15 for a few years. Been in the suburbs outside of Chicago for the last 10 years or so. Would love for my children to get the experience I had. ❤

      Yes, lots of retirement homes and IRMH and down the road in either direction you have south of you another hospital in Ft Pierce that’s lead for heart procedures and then north of you there’s Sebastian Hospital . Then also south of Vero in around one hour drive there’s several hospitals in Stuart,Florida.

    I just visited vero beach and had a good time. Could you tell us the difference from Vero and Melbourne?

    • @livingthefloridaeastcoast
      @livingthefloridaeastcoast  Před 2 lety +1

      Melbourne is much busier & spread out
      Crime rate is 67% higher than the national average in Melbourne
      Crime rate is 40% lower than the national average in Vero Beach
      No inlet, better beaches in Vero, better traffic in Vero.
      There is no comparison, I would never live in Melbourne personally!

    I think you missed some. I would say one of the pro's is the airport were you can land you 747 if you want on the runway. So all private yets can fly in and all commercials as well.
    On the A1A you have for a small town a good selection of car dealers.

      There’s a small section of water (about 20 feet or so) from the mark area to the cove that people swim across all the time. Just be very careful of the boats going in and out!

    Not many shopping options? How about Weekend Farmers Mkts., Constant festivals and fundraisers at various venues, malls with decent stores, an upscale outlet mall, etc., seems like plenty. We are not West Palm Beach and don't want to be. We don't however have a Trader Joes (Closest is Orlando) but we do have a Fresh Mkt. and another health food store, and nearest Costco is now at Melbourne, north of Vero and Sebastian). Biggest problem with Florida is people running red lights or not following the road rules making it more unsafe than it used to be.

      Hey Annette, Hopefully I am not too late with this reply! I love Siesta Key as well, and it is a hard beach to beat, but I would recommend taking a trip here and visiting all of our local beaches. Jaycee Beach, Golden Sands, the beach by Mulligans in Vero Beach, all of it and see what you think! We have a lot to offer, and Ocean drive offers a lot of great shopping/ restaurants to choose from. Let me know if you have any further questions and I promise I am very responsive over texting/ phone calls, I just have not logged onto CZcams for a few days. 772-453-0100

    Ngl, not trying to hate on anyone from here, but I moved at here about 2 years ago, and I’m so beyond thankful I wasn’t born or raised here lmao. Not much social life below age of 40 really. Not much culture either. Also, if you aren’t big on seafood, good luck eating anywhere else. Most multicultural restaurants are beyond Americanized. Id only suggest moving here if you can afford to purchase a second or even third real estate property. And living here only during the winter. Summers are beyond hot. Not many places to go so you have to truly enjoy out door WATER activities. Besides all that, its safe, quiet, and overall has the majority of necessities needed everyday. Although, just like anywhere else in Florida if you’re not already in or near a big city, you have to be willing to travel 40- and 1 hour and 30 min to really explore the state.
