Just found this video and used it, I have a bad habit of mind reading and jump to extreme conclusions and assumptions without questioning it. I've been doing CBT for 2 months and this has helped a lot! Thank you!!

My therapist calls this Cognitive Restructuring. It’s just the same thing but with “positive” on one side of the paper and “negative” on the other. It forces me to recognize the actual truth vs what I think. I have a notebook dedicated to this technique, and I use it when I really realize myself being negative. Thank you for sharing this! ❤️

Thank you. I'd definitely like to see more videos about basic CBT techniques that work similarly to this one. (I was also helped by you using yourself as an example, because it made the need for and usefulness of a pro/con list seem relatable instead of hypothetical.)

Thank you so much for these videos. I'm a long-term anxiety sufferer who, for some many reasons, can't face the usual treatment routes. They videos are a gift.

I've been subscribed for ages; I came for the ASMR but stayed for the excellent psychology self education. Thanks so much for another great video.

I do this all the time. Always think of the negative and never the positive. Really has effected certain relationships.

Omg. 1 minute in and you've answered my prayers. I do this (most times subconsciously) and it's ruining my life, because I can react so emotionally volatile or just plain weird that people look at me as if I'm crazy. I don't want to be the girl people have to prepare for when they see me coming. Ugh.

Great technique! I usually do this in my head when I have a similar anxious thought / assumption about something, but maybe writing it down would be even better. And please make more videos like this!

Pianissimo the idea for doing it in paper is for practice. Ideally you can get to a point where this is already an automatic process for you. I’d say it is worth revisiting every so often, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

This was really interesting and is something I might have to attempt. I experience many situations where I find myself jumping to conclusions without really diving deep into the actual situation. I feel by attempting this method it would help me to analyze the situation in a more rational approach. I would be interested if you were willing to share more cognitive behavioral strategies and would certainly encourage myself to utilize them and see how they work out for me. I still find myself utilizing the worksheet from your thinking traps ebook which has helped me more than you may realize.
I am honestly extremely grateful for your various resources as they have enabled me to not only manage my anxiety issues more effectively, I have also encouraged myself to learn more about the issues I struggle with and continue discovering strategies/techniques in order to better adapt to them. Thank you so much for your willingness to share your helpful resources. They are genuinely appreciated! 🙂

how about a discussion on how to withdraw from today's media/political news which seems to cause many (myself included) anxiety.....the minute by minute following of news is a new phenomenon due to social media, 24/7 cable, digital news, etc.
