Colosseum man, what a nostalgia trip. Basing an entire game around double battles, no wild pokemon, being a straight up criminal in the game, this ain’t your grandpappy’s pokemon that’s for sure
never heard of this game before, and with that story line i had to double check if it was *actually* official lol
@@MarieKyriney should play it if ever have the chance
It’s literally the most interesting and fun pokemon game, alongside pokemon xd gale of darkness

I really wish they made more Pokémon games in this style. While there is far less player freedom, it allows the game devs to sculpt a far more intentional difficulty curve.
Difficulty in my Pokemon Game? Absurd!
To be honest I think most casuals would love to have a team preset since choosing the right pokemon for the right situation, min-maxing and choosing the right moves is hard for someone who doesn’t play much.
@@LAM1895 So, the Wii game, Pokemon Battle Revolution? It's a fun game, tbh.
@@CaTastrophy427 For example in gen 3 in Battle Frontier there was a building called the Battle Factory where you had to face 7 trainers by choosing from the pokemon provided to you and you could swap with those of the teams you defeated between each battle. That was my favourite game mode after finishing the game because I could experience different battles with different pokemon and strategies without having to build my team from scratch everytime. If I remember correctly in Colosseum and XD there was also a mode where you would fight another trainer with both sides having random teams. I also really liked the challenges where you are placed in a specific situation and you have to win by using the only method or by being creative.
Yah but a lot of little kids play this game
Catching the enemy's pokemon and using them right away in battle is such an interesting mechanic.
I think there are a few rom hacks with that exact feature
it's such a power move lmao "now your mon works for ME"
Why is a game almost 20 years old more expressive and interesting than what they're doing in the series now?

I counter with Pokémon Rangers Shadow of Almia
I can't get over how good the animation looks in this. Why can't they do more of this?
greed. its really sad.
Colosseum was one of my favourite games growing up and when X & Y were announced I honestly expected the same quality or better. Fast forward to day and we're still seeing all the same animations from X & Y, very sad.
@@snicklefritzal if PLA isn’t good then it’ll be a huge disappointment
So, there actually is a reason for this, and it was the same problem that pokemon battle revolution had. Battles take way too dang long, all the detailed animations and everything add a really long time to each individual battle. And frankly, nobody really bought these games. But I would believe that there will be another similarly styled pokemon game eventually.

Playing Colosseum and XD is both a blessing and a curse. They're amazing games, but playing them will make you hold every Pokémon game afterward to a real standard, and thus be forever doomed to crushing disappointment.

Yeah, same.
i used to watch playthroughs of this game as a kid, ty for fueling my nostalgia!! :)
this was one of my favorite games when I was younger actually been playing it now on my steam deck
SmallAnt: "Oh that sucks, I have an Adamant Espeon that's like the worst nature you could possibly get."
Me: *Has a flashback to the time where SmallAnt suffers the first half of his Pokémon Ruby Wonder Guard playthrough.*
Im surprised he was allowed to heal, take damage, catch pokemon, level up, use attacking moves, and walk around
Real facts, this game would be insane to do a challenge run on.
This video was the most entertaining thing I’ve seen in awhile I think what made it better was the fact that you never played it and got to see your reactions to this amazing game from our childhood 👍
This honestly was one of my favorite gamecube games. The music SLAPS
I remember having this game when I was younger and I unknowingly did a hardcore run of this game. Because younger me didn't read about the game the first time I went through the entire game with just umbreon, espeon, and pusle. Yes the entire game including the 100 battle mountain with just those three. Later on I replayed the game correctly, but I still laugh that I played this game on hard mode my first time. I still remember I abused the heck out of moonlight, physic, and stall tactics.
Greetings, brother! I too did that, though my game was almost a solo run with Umbreon since Espeon was so frail! Did you also have that experience?
@@Snipergod1024 yes omg espeon was so frail that my umbreon would have to take two supereffective attacks before I could revive espeon
They learned from this mistake and they force you to snag the first Shadow Pokémon in XD to ensure you at least have the proper idea fed to you.
Omg that’s amazing. It’s crazy how the young mind works like that and still finds a way
I love using misdreavus in this game. It's the only ghost type in the game and the AI doesn't know how to handle it.
11:36 I thought that too. it's fire was literally like quills. that just made me think it was a hedgehog
Bro, I don't know why, but I have a fond memory of playing this in the summer it came it came out and just getting up with no school to go to and just grinding this out.
What a good game
Omg this game was my childhood!!
I ran Espeon/Jumpluff as my main pair running full status moves on Jumpluff and full attacking moves on Espeon and that actually worked for me until like halfway through the game where I got stuck - so cool to see you playing it!
The towns are all named after types of precious stones, Pyrite is fools gold, Agate, etc
Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that they're all things sourced from ores? It is the Orre region, after all.
I thought precious stones were things that could be cut into gems… being “Fools Gold”, it isn’t precious haha.
I totally forgot about this games. These games were awesome! played houndred of hours on them! gosh so much nostalgy. great video.
I love that the items in this game are small Pokeball themed boxes. It's like someone left a pokemon lunchbox out
