We got a month ahead by using our savings. We are debt free (minus our mortgage) so we had extra money in our savings account and we decided to use it to get a month ahead. We love it! We have been living a month ahead since September 2022.

I can't remember exactly what I did to get a month ahead but here are some ideas:
    1. Use your tax return
    2. If you're someone that gets paid weekly or bi weekly save those "extra" checks instead of working them in to your budget.
    3. Figure out how much you'll need to be a month ahead and divide it by 12. Save that amount each month and by the end of the year you'll have your month ahead. If that's too much try 18 months. It'll take a little longer but it will be less stressful.
    4. Instead of trying to get a month ahead on every bill at once, break it up, and get a month ahead one bill at time starting with your less expensive bills.

These are amazing tips!!!! Love them. Especially the extra paycheck in the month idea. 💡

@@NaturallyLizzie I believe that's the one I did but I feel like maybe we got some sort of incentive or something that year and that helped to. I can't recall.
One thing I do know is God made it happen. This changed the trajectory of my finances. One being starting my debt free journey a year later.

Looking forward to the grocery/food video! I’d also love to see like a week of spending. What do you buy in the sinking funds categories like hobby, etc. Love your videos!

Hi Lizzie, I used the snowball method one category at a time starting with the smallest. Then moved to the next one. You may find you are already a month ahead in some of your categories since you save each paycheck especially ones that are due closest to the beginning of the month. I realized I was already a month ahead on our rent since I save for it each paycheck and have the money ready for the first. When I realized I was already a month ahead on rent and did snowball it made it much easier since rent is our largest bill.

New subbie! I am working on getting a month ahead as well... trying to do a little bit towards it at the end of every month if I'm underbudget, but thinking about shifting how I handle magic months so at least half of the "extra" check can go towards it.
