  • Hello everyone!
    Today I will be doing my first review. Doing a review of the Gardena 400 C reel mower and seeing if this might be the best tool for beginners who want to get into reel mowing. Can you get into reel mowing without having to spend thousands on it?
    Using a manual cylinder or reel mower can be the perfect introduction but is the Gardena Comfort 400 C the right one for you?! I will give some pros and cons!

      Haha thanks Mike. I really like it though, think it's awesome. The only thing that I really really hate about it is the handle length, really hurts my back when I use it. But I am fixing that for my next video :D
      Thanks for watching Mike, appreciate it.

    Good my new mower. Half cut my mowing down by 50% in time and I want to cut the grass frequently that has thickened the grass.

      Hey Brian, sounds awesome mate, I love this mower, makes mowing so much more fun, especially when you see the results after a time of frequent mowing.

    Hi, could you please explain the contact free blade feature of your reel mower?

      Hey Farzein, very good point, Ill explain it the next time I do a mowing video. Thanks alot for watching man, really appreciate it!

      Hey Farzain, read your other comment, youtube deleted it since it contained a link, just so you know, they take away all comments with links automatically. But totally agree with what you said, they sell it with the wrong labels i think. In Sweden they sell the "dethatchers" as a moss remover attachment, makes no sense :D

    Do you need to sharpen the reel blades? If so, how do you do that?

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Před 11 měsíci

      Hey Mate, yes you do need to sharpen it just like any other mower. I have a video how to do backlapping, it looks harder than it is, even I could do it, which says a lot :)

      Thanks mate, I actually wanted to compare the Fiskars to this one but haven't found anyone that has one, the Fiskars looks really cool!

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Před 3 měsíci

      It has 4 settings
      12 mm - 0.5 inch
      22mm - 0.9 inch
      32 mm - 1.25 inch
      42mm - 1.6 inch

    Do the rollers at the back leave nice stripes in law?

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Před 2 lety

      Hey Patrick, the roller does leave a very light stripe, however, the grass collector does help a lot if you want stripes. If it's 1/3 full, it will start to work as a roller pretty much and it does leave some nice stripes :)

    Thanks for the thorough and helpful review, it has helped me decide to DEFINITELY NOT BUY THIS. This is because the 42mm highest setting is absurdly short if you actually want a healthy lawn. No offense to you of course, in fact kudos to you for helping dodge this bullet! But seriously I am not cutting a golf course. Every single google search on best grass height for better health says 3 inches (75 mm) is optimal for better root strength, drought resistance and weed resistance. This Gradenia thing chops that height in half! If anyone has a recommendation for one that can actually adjust to a healthy length (for Europe/Italy), please let me know. Thanks!!

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Před rokem +1

      Hey mate, glad you found it helpful. The thing with reel/cylinder mowers is that they don't cut that high, people usually get them to cut as low as possible. So if you want to cut higher then definitely look into getting a rotary mower, they usually cut higher. Good luck dude ☺🤙

    • @PT-mj3bk
      @PT-mj3bk Před rokem +2

      Healthy length in Europe is no shorter than 30 mm. 75 mm is healthier yes, but so is not cutting it at all. Its a balance for look and strength and 42 mm will definitely be tall enough to both be healthy and good looking. IMO
