HUGE props to the Professor for mentioning this game a few episodes ago! I managed to get the base game and all the supplements and am thoroughly impressed by the contents. It's so worth getting for the models alone, even if you never play the game.
Professor Dungeon Master is annointing these minis in the holy oil of Nuln. The figures look awesome, I'll grab the game as soon as I get my paint setup together.
"If you wanna save time, screw eyes." Wholly agree. Good enough for board game minis being used on the table. People won't notice unless they pick it up and focus on it close-up. Usually too much time investment to bother with, and saving time when you have hordes of minis on your shelves of shame, waiting for a paint job, is important.
Great speed painting vid! And like u said you can always pick your favorite later and paint them to a higher standard. In the mean time all of them look much better than flat plastic.
PDM, your content is awesome and even though I’ve been DMing since the 80s and have watched all(I think) of your videos I don’t understand how you have wizards and clerics in the same party even though the clerics hunt the wizards. I am starting a new game using many of your rules and I am using OSE. I’m very excited to get back to the basics. Thanks to anyone who has a good response.
Thanks. I am using keep of the borderlands and the cleric is using the MU as a ‘necessary evil’. The whole of the party didn’t like the idea of the cleric’s god watching their actions. It did make some interesting role playing and decisions for them.
Oh man this has me so much more excited for my oneliner submission! I think I'm actually most excited about the painted minis. Time well spent finding all the deathbringer lines and finding the most likely topic to come up.
This was perfect timing! I was looking at my pile of Reaper Bones shame and thinking I needed a quick paint scheme. Reddit/Facebook posts didn't get very satisfying responses, but the two-tone version with just the tiny bit of brushing sepia is perfect!
@@DUNGEONCRAFT1 thanks for putting out quality work! Commenting and liking is a slight way I can give back. Maybe I'll pitch in for the patreon soon. But I appreciate the channel greatly!
I loved the painting advice in this video. Then it occurs to me you guys painted 100 minis in one day. I then glance over to my shelf with those unpainted "I'll get to later" minis of mine. I can hear Deathbringer calling me Slacker, in my earbuds. Keep the videos rolling Professor Dungeonmaster
After watching this again, I really need to paint my Zombicide Black Plague and Heroquest and I'm probably gonna use this video as inspiration. I've been getting into monochromatic paint schemes recently and after painting Cursed City in a B&W style I'm itching to get those two games painted up too.
Cool stuff PDM! Thanks to your great vid on finding cheap minis I picked up a box of HATE looking forward to doing my own batch paint of these guys. I too plan to paint them all at once They are so dark and awesome! I am going to call them the One Hundred, a group of barbarians that runs around my game world causing havok and mayem. Burning villages and taking prisoners. DND meets Mad Max. I hope by the time they meet the players have prepared themselves! To join the hundred you must face another of its members in combat thus replacing him. If there numbers fall below 100 they put new recruits through a number of challenges but mainly challenging a monstrous beast to the death in combat. Any other thoughts totally appreciated.
Please bring back classic Deathbringer and let's get a Deathbringer T-shirt! Maybe captioned "Deathbringer comes in peace." Love your channel by the way, been playing since the Green robed wizard on the DM's guide. Now passing it on to my son and daughters. Thank you!
I like all your painting vids! I did something similar with Rising Sun from C’MON. It’s got a Japanese theme and I got all those sweet minis that I use in my DnD games!
Excellent video, nice new intro. An absolutely brilliant tutorial for painting minis as always. My hobby is hibernating at present, so I hope someone else makes use of the prizes. That said, here's a freebie for Deathbringer. "What's red, wet, and smells like blue Games Workshop paint?" "Red Games Workshop paint, you fool!" Add salt and spices to taste. Thanks again, PDM.
I'm always tempted to go for a simple stylized approach like this but always pass not wanting to paint a whole bunch and find if bland later but these look great. And I end up just leaving thing bare plastic
PDM, you need some affiliate links! Just getting started with painting my minis, love this style and I’m copying it. Going out to buy all those paints now!
yeah I like the idea of buying some sets of games just to pick out the models for them. I even saw a few that came with little card terrain and buildings, and my lazy self though. "that would be really cool for a sci fi setting". I love these videos though, Professor. keep em coming
This is hilarious. The last time you brought up Hate MiniMarket bumped the price to 120, now it's 130. lol Just got a 3d printer today, so I'm out. ;-)
Thank you for watching. This was one of my least viewed videos but I thought it came out great--especially the montage. I was so proud of that, but people didn't watch it.
Can someone tell me the difference between washes and contrast paint? Ps. Love the video! Thanks for making it! (This is my 4th of many times watching it!)
You would be lucky to find a copy of Hate for only $100. Dont mean to sound unappreciating about the giveaway. Just a comment on the going rate from someone that has looked for a copy.
Interesting approach to speed painting a ton of minis... but one major problem here that will affect HATE's game play: You painted over the color-coded bases and it is now incredibly difficult to distinguish which figure belongs to which clan. With 22 minis (11 per player) scattered all over the battlefield in a typical Clash, you need to know where your figures are, and where your enemy's figures are located to determine the board state. You also need to know if a figure is a Warrior, Shaman, Youngblood, Champion, Prince or Mercenary. This is going to be so hard to do with every miniature looking nearly identical, and with no color coding on the bases to match up to the figure cards. If you're going to paint over the colored bases, I would suggest implementing some unique color accents on the figures themselves to more boldly visually differentiate the clans (for example: gold armor vs. silver, unique hair/fur colors, unique skin tones). Alternatively, I'd consider leaving the colored edge of all bases unpainted with some easy tape masking during the priming/base coating step. Painting the minis is great... just not at the expense of the game play!
Well hold on. A lot of Deathbringer's jokes are tangentially related to the subject of the video, so the contestants will have to submit jokes with generic context.....
PDM gave Deathbringer a facelift and his audience a good contest episode, what a boss.
Thanks!
I mean I get why you did it, new Deathbringer looks better on my son's t-shirt. I'll always have a soft spot for OG Deathbringer though.
Digging the new intro with Deathbringer! Background is a nice homage to AD&D PHB.
Just picked up some of these miniatures. This is awesome. Makes the overwhelming feeling of painting these go away. Thanks!

I learned more about shading just now than since lockdown started. Thanks PDM

+ plain white/black eyes is an aesthetic, so you can say that's what you were going for.
I never paint eyes. Just shade/wash them and done
I have to say, PDM has great taste! When he first showed us this board game’s minis, I immediately bought it, and he’s right, the minis are amazing!
Holy crap! Deathbringer looks completely badass. Love the new look.
Nice close-up shots, Prof. DM! I'm not a Patron, but here's a joke anyway:

Modiphius had Conan minis? I have the core Conan boardgame, with the minis primed quite awhile back, but that was from Monolith.

Nice minis.
