In this episode, Artem discusses the cultural differences of growing up in the States compared to growing up in Russia and leaving home to travel the world at the age of 15. You will be shocked to learn that he didn’t learn dance by choice but grew to love it after taking dance classes at the age of 12. Artem’s parents knew their son and steered him in the Tight direction for him. He is artistic, has a candid eye and rides bikes for relaxation.

I love how you do interviews. If there is something that bothers me it is when an interviewer interrupts the interviewee half way of the answer and don't let them finish and make another question; and also when it seems the questions the interviewer is doing ,come as the interview progresses. Artem should go back dwts if they ask. They've done the same to other dancers, and they've gone back. I love him on the dwts.
It would have been different if they had taken him aside shortly after the season ended and said he wouldn't be returningnfor the next season (like they have for other dancers). But DWTS waited until the day before he was supposed to start the press tour for that season, and I think that is the part that did not sit well with him. Artem had turned down all other offers, blocked off his entire schedule for the DWTS season. He had made financial decisions based on being on the show, and then suddenly he was left with no income and no advance notice so he could have lined up other jobs. By waiting til the last minute to let him go, DWTS made him miss out on accepting any other TV opportunities, choreography jobs, dancing tours, etc... That is incredibly disrespectful of DWTS. So I can see why he would be hesitant to go back to working with the people that left him hanging at the very last minute and left him in a terrible financial and professional position. It was flaky and unprofessional on their part. And who wants to be financially dependent on people who are flaky and unprofessional?

I think everything happens for a reason in life whether we can see it at the time or not. What I’m thinking is that for whatever reason, he was meant to be off that show at exactly the time that he fell in love with Nikki and asked her to marry him. Why? Because let’s be honest here-people develop feelings for someone when in close physical contact like dancing for weeks on end. They can’t help it, it just happens. If it didn’t, there wouldn’t be so many showmances. Hell even a local woman went and did a dancing with the stars type competition around here and fell in love with her dance partner-problem was she was married with kids at the time. She left her life to be with this guy-not because he was the better man by any means-he was new and he was touching her body as they danced and that was enough. It happens. There’s no telling who Artem would have been paired with, or how he would feel about her after the new relationship with Nikki became not so new anymore. It’s a dangerous thing, having your partner in someone else’s arms. Maybe he was meant to be saved for her because something bigger is at play here. I suspect these are the two who are meant to bring another life into the world, a baby perhaps. I believe in destiny, I felt the hand of destiny on my own relationship. I met my husband in a random place that I never went to before, and never was there again on an impromptu trip that I didn’t see coming. We were at the right place at the right time, at a time when both were looking for a real love not a “good for right now” lover. It was all so random and strange that we even met that day. And it’s been 27 years now of never being apart hardly ever since that day. And two children that I guess we were meant to bear together. Sometimes life happens naturally, it organically flows into the next phase of your life and love on its own terms.

Artem has fallen for other dancers but it did not last. He was old enough to realize this was the Real deal!
He naturally line nikki even before they started dancing. He says it himself. That just seeing her, he was interested. After the first day, he called the producer and told him, am in love!!

Such an odd relationship
Americans will never understand the concept of obeying/pleasing/listening to your parents and caring for them. All around the world, from Russia to China to the middle east, parents are our world. In America it is about turning 18 and living your own life.
Yeah, agree I'm African. And to us it's a big deal. Respect for our elders and taking care of our parents.
LovedBy You If an African parent (or parent from another country) tried to raise their kids in the US....there would be conflicts because even though the parents came from the mentality that "You should always listen to your parents and never question them"....the kids are being influenced by the environment around them. Friends and some of the media puts out the message that not all parents are perfect....and it doesn't match up with the parents' values....which leads to disagreements, arguments, and the kid wanting to distance themselves further away from the family.
It depends entirely on how someone is raised. There are plenty of instances all around that contradict what you say, but in your limited view from where you are away from us-you see only the people with big online presence or the rich and famous as examples of what America is like. You aren’t here to see the regular little people who care deeply for their parents and are there for them in their old age. Do we always agree and do exactly what they want us to do in our personal lives? No we don’t. That simply means that we have a mind of our own and care about our own happiness as well as theirs. There’s a give and take, so to speak to that old adage. We may take our own path in life, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t prosper doing our own thing and also respect them in every other way other than turning over our entire life plan to what they want us to do. We can do that and still be there for them when they need us, and still make them proud doing good at something else that they never imagined for us. For instance my daughter originally was planning on going into a science field which pleased me very much. But she has since changed her career path to being a neonatal nurse which to me seemed less promising for her future. But this is what will make her most happy, and because of that I cannot fault her. Because nothing matters at the end of life more than being happy. I could sentence her to an unfulfilling career choice to make myself feel more validated or proud of what she’s doing, but what kind of mother would that make me if I did? Especially given that I know it would make her less happy to be doing it? Life is too short to spend it miserable just because someone else’s ego needs to be propped up as they live vicariously through their children’s accomplishments. Just my two cents for what they are worth. Probably nothing to you, but it is our truth here whether you think so or not.

Nor was I trying to say that parents should micro-manage the shit out of their kids. There should always be a balance.
My Parents was My Everything. I lost My Dad at the age of 22 and I lost My Mum at the age of 28. I looked after them both. The one thing they loved me to do was singing coz they saw how much joy I got out of it. I know they look down on at me smiling when I sing. My Mum and Dad always wanted me to do something with my voice but I just don’t have the confidence to go and do it. I had professional singing lessons that my parents paid for. Hopefully one day I will have the confidence to go and do something about it. I know they will be so happy with me and so proud of me if I get the confidence to do that. My parents wanted me to sing as that’s what they knew I loved the most.

DWTS is a dance contest and Patti was 70+ yrs old!!! No pro would have been excited even though she's a singing legend!!! To give Artem credit he did state Patti became one of his favorite partners after having the opportunity to dance with her!!!
