@missjo69 They were Australian designed and built, for Australian conditions. Coupes are rare in Australia, and this one was no exception. Holden took the idea of a muscle car and hardened it up. The only oval track racing in Australia id dirt track speedway. Almost all blacktop racing is done on circuits here. For a classic example, search for "Bathurst 1972" this was the era this car came from

I have seen rebuilds like this vary from $10,000 (assuming he's a jack of all trades) through to show winners that cost $100,000+ to finish

The 308s used Turbo 350 and Turbo 400 transmissions, a Chevy 10 bolt is easy to fit, and they will take any GM V8 you care to fit to them. The smallest engine the HQ ever came with was a 173 cubic inch straight 6. A good one retails for about $3000, or about $2700 in US currency

It may take some research, but they do exist out there. Getting a coupe will be expensive, as they were rare. Getting a sedan isn't so hard. They have a huge engine bay, so if the original 308 5-litre isn't enough, a 350 or 454 will fit fine

yes , true , dont mean to be a downer , ive a ht prem in the shed awaiting , its just time and experience that tells me how many hundreds of hours and bucks its gonna take to do the job right . i had to sell my hq coupe about 5 yr ago , i wish i could get her back

Beautiful work, beautiful car. Would have been nice to see the video end with the sound of the car but I found the one where you started her up, outstanding. @Mechknight73 Yes. I am aware of an importer in Oregon who brings these cars in. It is just dreadfully expensive. The 308 would be fine for me. As a matter of fact, I would restore it to original specs. I would get more looks driving this car than in any Ferrari, or anything of that sort. Here in the US, we can leave them right hand drive because they don't care. There are tons of RHD cars here in the states.

I've got a 74 HQ GTS coupe and before that a 74 GTS sedan and neither have GTS badges on the door trim. Maybe the earlier models did, I'm not sure.
