      I wouldn't count on it, his ASOIAF book series is so massively bloated and convoluted that he regularly forgets details like the eye colours of major characters or who a minor character is. He often relies on notes compiled by superfans Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson who sometimes know his books better than he does.

    I think many of Stannis’s problems came from leaving King’s Landing after Ned was named Hand.
    1.If Stannis had been around, Renly would never have dared to usurp his place.
    2.If he had been around to work with Ned, the truth about Cersei’s children would have come to light far earlier.
    3.If he had stayed, the Baratheons would have had enough troops to crush the Lannister coup d’état. In fact, neither the coup nor the murder of Robert would even have happened.
    It’s easy to be wise with hindsight, of course. But surely a shrewd army leader like Stannis ought to have foreseen trouble from the Lannisters if he reduced Baratheon numbers by leaving.
    OK, so he was annoyed with Robert, jealous of Ned, + spooked by Arryn’s death _ and the info Jon Arryn left behind.
    But at the very least _ even if he didn’t want to go into details, he should have left a warning to Ned to fill King’s Landing with Starks and loyal troops. FFS, Stannis even knew Janos Slynt was untrustworthy _ and corrupt.

    But what I believe is that Little Finger's plan was to kill Tyrion instead of Joffrey. Remember supposedly Joffrey was killed by the wine, but the books also hint at the pigeon pie. Joffrey started coughing after he ate the pie, but he could drink the wine and nothing happened in about 30 seconds. The maester at Dragonstone was instantly dead when he drank the poisoned wine. It was the same poison. But it was Tyrion's pie and not Joffrey's. If Tyrion had eaten from it, he would have died. And to me, Little Finger would be better if Tyrion is gone. Tyrion knows Baelish lied to Catelyn, what leads to the kidnapping of Tyrion. All the others that know about Baelish telling Cat are dead. Also, Joffrey is far of a less threat than Tyrion. He would have ruined the kingdom by himself if he lived. Tyrion, however, is smart AND wed to Sansa, the key to the North. Little Finger is lord protector of the Veil and 'father' to Sansa Stark in Feast. If Sansa's marries Harry the Heir Little Finger can retake Winterfell in Sansa name. At that point, Little Finger is Lord Paramount of the Trident, Lord of Harrenhall, Lord protector of the Vale of Arryn and holds the North. + all his connections in Kingslanding would make Petyr one of the most powerful persons in the kingdom.
    If Joffrey was poisoned Sansa and Tyrion would still be man and wife and not be able to marry Harry. But LF could not have known Sansa is still a virgin and thus it worked either way.

    • @Jess-yo9rt
      @Jess-yo9rt Před 3 lety +1

      I thought Joffrey was drinking non stop at that pie moment, he'd just had Tyrion refil his huge cup and Margaery was begging him to go back to their toasts when the piece of pie arrived, and Joff decided to be a little shit some more, it seemed that all happened really fast so I still think it was the wine. Anyway if it was the pie and it was meant for Tyrion to die, LF would know that Tyrion didn't took Sansa's virginity, if Tywin knew probably a lot of people did as well and I don't think LF'd care to much for Sansa not being a virgin anymore, as long as she wasn't pregnant. I suppose that during that war the north wouldn't refuse the last Stark, even if it's a deflowered widow.

    • @Jess-yo9rt
      @Jess-yo9rt Před 3 lety +1

      Also Dontos was ready to take Sansa during the caos, if Tyrion started to choke right next to her it would be hard for Dontos to snatch her away, people would be looking for his trophy beatiful wife immediately, I don't know, doesn't seems pratical. What I think it's weird is LF revealing the plan to Sansa as soon as she arrived at the ship, considering Sansa wasn't known for being able to keeping secrets.

    • @jujooguppy4567
      @jujooguppy4567 Před 3 lety +13

      You seem to be forgetting that LF did the poisoning in conjunction with Olenna Tyrell, via the necklace. Sansa wore the necklace, unknowingly smuggling the poison in, and later Olena fidgets with it and takes the poison. She deliberately poisoned Joffrey. She tells her daughter as much, that she would never allow her to marry that monster. Sure, maybe she poisoned who SHE wanted and LF wanted Tyrion poisoned, but it seems far more likely he convinced her to do it because they both wanted Joffrey dead.

      Also, Littlefinger had motive to kill Tyrion. Not only did LF need Tyrion dead to free Sansa of her marriage, but Tyrion intimated to Littlefinger that he knew LF killed Jon Arryn. Furthermore, the purple wedding wasn't the first time LF tried to have Tyrion killed. During the Battle of the Blackwater he had Ser Mandon Moore try to kill Tyrion and would've succeeded but for Podrick's intervention. Littlefinger plotted with Olena to poison Joffrey in the books. But it was Cersei trying to poison Tyrions pie that got him killed. Olena planned on poisoning Joffrey later on in the feast. Mance's 100,000 person 'army' count includes women, children, and noncombatants, and is pretty much the entire population Beyond the Wall. We never truly see the Northern Army at full strength. Robb marches south with only part of the full northern forces, with many houses only sending minimal men. Even so, Robb's army of 20,000 Northmen is only a fraction of what the North could theoretically muster. Both Stannis and Roose are able to gather armies from the remaining Northern forces who didn't march south for an additional 10,000 men between the two of them. So basically the North is only drawing soldiers from thwir adult male population, while Manse has every wildling man woman and child in his army. If that made any sense lol

    Stannis became my favorite contender after the Wildling incident. I legitimately believe that he doesn't want to be King. His code just won't allow him to cede his claim, and it's that same unbending code that Davos used to get him to help the Watch. In Stannis's mind, he is the legitimate King. King's protect their people. If x is true, so must y.
    It's why I hated how he ended in the television show. I cannot imagine a world where Stannis kills his own trueborn daughter. Love her or not, it's just not what's done and Stannis is an honor robot.
    It's also why in the books, I legitimately hope he survives. He's unlikely to take the throne, but if he could be legit convinced that someone had a better claim than him, I think he'd do a 180 and be that person's most reliable supporter.
