    Hi Nico, awesome video as always.
    I have another video idea for you.
    At a steady wind & choppy place send a couple of intermediates who can mostly plane though gybes out on lots of different gear. Race, camless freerace, freeride, etc. Time them around a figure of 8 course for each setup then compare that to you on your full race gear.

    Nice video! It would be great if you could do another on going upwind, especially on strong wind. What I have never seen is a video showing the transition from downwind course to upwind directly seen while riding on the water.
    Anyway, thanks a lot for your beautiful videos. I have seen them all!

    Hi Nico, appreciate the video with more information on fins! Many of us don't get a chance to try fins on the water, directly compare and then pick a favorite. More typical is to pick based on a mixed bag of guidance, and then find out how you did some time later when you have a chance to use it on the water. Maybe for a future idea, it would be fun to get guidance on impact of design from a combination of the fin designer perspective as well as the pro rider perspective. This could make the "pick and hope" process at least a little more successful. Please keep these fun videos coming!

    Hey Nico, I've been playing attention when you jibe, and I've just realized that when you finish a duck jibe you have much speed than in a normal jibe. Do you use duck jibes durning races?

    • @M.Bo.
      @M.Bo. Před 3 lety +1

      I was wondering the same actually. I can imagine that duck jibes could actually be faster but they are not really done in races because of lack of maneuverability. I think with "regular" jibes, riders have more control and flexibility. They can react better in case they need to change the course because of the swell or when someone cuts into their way and the danger of crashing is less than in duck jibes. Could be wrong though... Maybe Nico or some other professional can explain in detail... :)

    • @simongodfrey3765
      @simongodfrey3765 Před 3 lety +1

      I'm no professional but I think with the regular slalom gybe you're able to get forward quicker to flatten off the board after flipping the sail, but with the duck gybe you're at the back of the board longer and weight on the tail means slowing the board down. Could be completely wrong :) Let's hear from Nico!

    • @Stefan-Foil
      @Stefan-Foil Před 3 lety

      A regulary gybe is more effective and you should exit at a higher speed than a duck gybe even if you do a perfekt duck gybe. But it would be cool if someone made duck gybes in a competion.

    Did you ever try to test out some mystic harness'? Might be worth trying a ton, especially if you're going down into heavy winds.
    Good fun video as always. I'm stilll looking around for a nice 43cm carbon fin. Maybe Ludo will be my guy --
    Another fun video idea. Collect as many foils as you can, phantom, starboard, lokefoil, jp, f4 etc etc and let us know which foil you prefer. So many designs and it is constantly innovating. A lot of choices. Would be fun to see a big comparison with either 5 riders compeeting or you trying 5 different foils.

    Fin size is always a question-especially in a slalom race with strong tidal movement!
    In strong winds on a deep downwind angle to the race mark, how do you keep control when its extremely windy and choppy?

    Hey Nico. Nice video again. Most questions on fins are already asked. But you said something strange about your mast. You said a smaller mast 400 ipv 430) is softer. That right 19 vs 21. This will give a softer feeling. But you said .. softer is more power ?? That’s strange. Default, softer is less power. Can you explain?

    • @gh0strid3r92
      @gh0strid3r92 Před 3 lety

      well im no an expert but i guess if the mast is softer, than the sail isnt that stiff overall and can build up more "profile" which makes it more powerfull but also less stable? that'll be my guess, ut could be completely wrong as well

    • @cjeslicabaas3729
      @cjeslicabaas3729 Před 3 lety +1

      @@gh0strid3r92 I would like to hear the answer from Nico😀.
      From the past a stiffer mast gives a powerful sail. The less the mast bend the more profile you have (less downhaul is deeper profile). If your sail is on the ground with no mast the profile is flat. If you use a very soft mast (soft plastic tube) that will follow the luff curve the sail would be flat. With a stiffer tube (mast) it is not possible (to much force on the downhaul rope, or the tube breaks) to follow the luff curve and that’s creating the profile. Buts that’s the static situation. There is a dynamic situation to and that’s changed the game depending on sail design.
      And that’s my interest 😀

    • @gh0strid3r92
      @gh0strid3r92 Před 3 lety

      @@Nico_GER7 Thanks Nico. Often explanations about fins seem to be contradictions, for example G10 fins are 'softer' so are more forgiving in choppy / windy conditions but then also a carbon fin with a lot of flex generates more lift. Or ... a bigger fin keeps the nose of the board down but too big a fin can produce tail-walking. Not saying that these statements are accurate but just examples. So, it would be great to hear more about the specific fin characteristics (flex, twist, outline, profile etc.) that contribute to speed, control or lift and why!
