The first truck you saw being blown over had absolutely no problem with the center of weight. It was able to drive fine in the storm, but what you see happening in the video is that it was overtaking a larger truck, so it was out of the wind for a while, and then when it got out from the cover of the larger truck, was unable to control the sudden return of the wind

A facade panel was ripped off our upstairs house. Neighbour found it in the berm on the other side of the road. :v

In 2017 hurricane Irma hit fort Myers Florida where I lived at the time. My then boyfriend had 2 huge palm trees in his front yard. During the hurricane the wind blew one of them down. When it but the ground the whole shook like an earthquake. And really loud thud. Our bedroom was in the front so we were able to watch it fall. We're talking about a super tall tropical palm tree.
It was something I've never seen before or since.
Now I love in Memphis Tennessee with my daughter. Thankfully.

Way back in the day my mom's car was so light that she took some sandbags with her on vacation so the wind wouldn't blow her off the road, haha. They would sit in the front. I think a lot of the falling trees issues in the cities are because they want the paving to be smooth around them so they are dumb and keep cutting the roots down, what do they think will happen to such a tall tree with barely any roots to hang on?

In my country ENGLAND The press was calling it hurricane and storms the rest of us called it WINTER. Lived here all my life had to go to school and walk 2 miles there and 2 miles back in snow that reached nearly to your knees. We were made of different stuff back then, now it's all candy floss and god forbid if we get the power cuts my kids go into mourning for their phones and they actually have to engage in proper conversation which they haven't got a clue how to do. Now they have to be wrapped up in cotton wool and safe places. I have 3 emergency boxes and back up generator that hubby made. I can cook I have a way of making hot water. Some of the electrics worked and we have open fire places and NOT central heating. SO we were warm. Used the same fire to do toast and jacket spuds.
I lost the roof of my shed half the roof of another outbuilding half my chimney came down. Guess what it all got fixed this weekend my husband and his brothers went round everyone we knew and the elderly who live near us and cleaned up all the mess for them, any trees that came down my hubby grabbed my kids and told them to chop it into firewood and stack it for them. I live in a fabulous community and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
People are idiots they were told to stay at home so what do they do they go to the coast and then some poor sod who works for the emergency services has to go out and rescue them.
I am been harsh I suppose but to me I think no one gets taught life skills anymore.

This hurricane became extremely strong, the third strongest registered ever. No roof will hold that. :) We had 11BF for 4 hours and it was fucking scary. I told my girls to stay inside, no school. But Dutch people just go to work and school, while there is a code RED. It must be the Portuguese genes in me that doesn't understand these people :D
But it was also sad, too many people lost their lives, specially by falling trees. Holland is about extreme weather, -18 C degrees in Winter, wet warm winters, Springs that feel like summer, spring that feels like fall, and last 10 years extremely dry and warm summers with several heatwaves. And of course three extremely deadly and demolishing tornado's in South Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Tsjech , waterspouts are common here. Because we are under sea level, our soil gets salt and that's bad for nature and farmers. The story it is always raining here. So not true. Wind, yes and I hate it. I enjoy it when it is actually silent outside when I walk the dogs.
