Dancing âwrongâ on purpose is so hard. Thereâs a line of making it obvious but not ridiculous. I love it.
Absolutely true, but if you are past the stage of finding the right amount, you have fun while dancing this hahahaha
I love this one so much đđ
Indeed, it is very hard because you have to fight against the natural instinct to get in step with everyone else.
The goal is to make the audience laugh so timing & proper amount of elements is important. Iâve seen a lot of performances of the Mistake Waltz and theyâre a miss. Some exaggerate the facial expressions and some just couldnât do the comedy right.
We also once had a piece like that in orchestra
We've all done the last move. The "Maybe if I move slowly enough the audience (and my teacher) won't notice my mistake". Like they're my arms and they're in the air, everyone sees them kid.
Yes! That was my favorite bit! Iâve definitely struck the (entirely wrong) ending pose and tried to ooze to the right one
Same hahaha
Hahaha the mistakes Iâve done in ballet class are all represented here and takes me back to good memories.
Now, Iâm a professional ballet dancer/ ballerina and I still do mistakes, but oh well itâs funny đ€đ
For me, that's the best part of this ballet. I feel like Josephine missed that at the very end. It's so hilarious.
@@livetodance30 Yeah, I did that too, when I was younger and sometimesâŠ.I still do it hahaha đđ€
This was actually choreographed in 1956 by Jerome Robbins, so not exactly new! đ It is part of his ballet The Concert (or The Perils of Everybody) that he made for the New York City Ballet company.
Yep! And has been done many times since czcams.com/video/wDP2c2FCHAM/video.html
Thatâs also why she recognized it at the beginning, she just loves the performance and reacts to that
I'd imagine in ballet just like in classical music, everything post 18th-19th century is regarded as "new"
It's so new, it's older than me. ;-)
This is The Mistake Waltz which is a part of a ballet by Jerome Robbins called The Concert, which actually premiered in the 1950's! One of the first comedy ballets!
The concert is fantastic!
We learned this choreo at school and the whole process was hilarious. Plus it has so many little detail that make the dance so much fun to do. Truly one of my favorite ballet choreos out there đâ€ïž
Same, i performed this before
Ohhhhh I wanna dance thiissssss đ
I'm glad to hear it's fun, not a dancer but it looks like it would be, hard but really fun. đ
Same, it was so fun doing it hahaha
@@sophia0249 Same hihi
Not a dancer of any kind, so I might be giving a far-away shot, but to me seems a lot harder to make a "mistake on purpose" them knowing a choreography by heart and making one or two little mistakes on stage... I know it happens "spontaneously" in classes, but it's two things you have to learn here, the actual steps and the missteps... Kudos to this ballerinas, they are amazing!
It is!!
I did ballet and do horseback riding, it is so hard to NOT follow the music as a human being.
There was a very popular gymnast coach that taught girls in the 80's. So during intermissions during competitions, he would perform skits for the audience. Of course, he was a male doing women's gymnastics on the uneven bars or the beam or even a floor routine. His name is Paul Hunt. It's so great listening to the commentary as he performs.
@@SandrA-hr5zk, I love Paul Hunt! His routines as Eastern European gymnasts are hilarious, especially when heâd put his hair on Olga Korbut-esque pigtails. You have to an incredibly good gymnast (national level, in his case) to pull off such ridiculous routines.
@@SandrA-hr5zk i remember watching him when i was younger! so funny!!!
I love the mistake waltz. Itâs just so great! The organized chaos, while still being beautiful. đ
I did this with for my advanced pointe class recital dance a couple of years ago and they had SO much fun. We only had 3 dancers, so I had to modify a bit, but it worked wonderfully and the audience loved it. Fun to watch your reaction.
adorable! can we talk about how they nailed the leap? every toe landed at the same exact time!
My favorite comedy ballet is the Queen of Hearts in The Royal Ballet Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Itziar Mendizabal had me in tears and my stomach aching watching her perform. She was just hilarious.
YES!!!! The Tart Adagio is one of my favorite CZcams clips EVER!
đđđđđ standing ovationđđđđ Primas every one. âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž too fun.
TY Josephine đ
I really recommend you watching Ballet Magnifique - ballet gone bad. It is simmaral to this but with even more ballet jokes. It's somehow one of my favourite pieces just of the details in the humour alone. It's amazing 10/10 and I would love for you to see it
I started crying with laughter watching that!!!
Yes! I watch this when I need a laugh. Every time I watch it, I see something new.!
That is my absolute favorite out of the humorous ballets that I've found so far!!
Ive seen this before, it must be difficult for disciplined dancers to make deliberate mistakes. Love it x
With this piece it probably isn't considering that everything they do is technically correct. It's intentionally choreographed to be wrong, but nothing is performed incorrectly.
Alice in wonderland when the red queen has her main section. I think itâs Christopher Wealdenâs ballet
Yes! The tart adage is so good
Yes!!! Or the Alice in wonderland with mad hatter, alice and the door mouse! That is pure genius but also so fun in parts!
Oh yes!! I love it too.
I love that you donât have to be a ballet dancer to relate - Iâm a tapper and Iâve done all of these things in class! đ
This is when you miss one day of dance class and everything changed
i know this has been a round a long time like 60 years, and its turned into a fun piece to do. i feel this is harder then it looks since they are used to having to all be in sync and not making mistakes. so having people not do things right or on times etc....has got to be difficult.
this is one of my favourite ballets. I feel like it's easy to overdo the "mistake" aspect to where its overdone but the choreography is perfectđ
One of my most favorite ballets. Think it must be an absolute blast to perform.
I would not be able to make it through without laughing but yes itâs my class every rehearsal đđđ
An oldie but a goodie!!! Love watching other groups do their own spin of this choreo!!! (No pun intended)đđđ
Ommmgggg you have got to watch Ballet Magnifique - Ballet Gone Bad. Itâs like this but with a dozen more dancers
I'd been waiting for you to review this one! đđ
They're amazing!
Lol Iâm definitely the dancer that stays in a pose too long and doesnât realize we moved on đ
I love this. Jerome Robbins ' Mistake Waltz is one of my absolute favorites.
This is the definition of âif you mess up just pretend itâs part of the showâ
This is awesome and so funny! Glad to see them get to have some fun instead of it being so serious all the timeâŠhowever, seriously, their dancing is amazing! Love how they seem to enjoy the choreographyâŠand great that their studentsâŠI hope they go on to great careers/lives, they are fantastic!!! Bravo!
I LOVE Mistake Ballet!!!
My favourite comedic ballet routine is Tart Adage from Alice's Adventure in Wonderland performances that the Royal ballet does. It takes a well-known classic from from Sleeping beauty and turns it into something so funny.
I like that every dancer makes mistakes and itâs not just one person âgetting blamedâ for screwing up.
I wish you had also reacted to how the dancers come onto (and exit) the stage - it's hilarious too!
Our Academy does this almost every year for Spring Showcase. đ Itâs always so fun.
One of the lower level classes at my studio did a variation of this dance for our Spring concert this year too! They didn't do it en pointe because they were too young to have pointe shoes yet but still. đ
This is exactly what me and my friends look like during ballet class đ
The second I saw pacific northwest ballet I knew it was going to be the mistake waltz
The mistake waltz is my favorite single piece ever! Yay!!
u guys should definitely react to ballet magnifique - ballet gone bad
The PNW piece was awesome. So hilarious and always fantastic to see and hear Josephine!
Were learning this for a showcase tommorow and 1 thing i realised was that its harder to plan mistakes than to actually do themđ
This is actually one of my favorite ballets. It's beautiful it's fun. The dancers are talented and I live when artists can laugh at themselves
The girl who slowly moves her arms at the very end is so me! I ave literally done that before đ€Łđ€Ł
Josephine is a ray of sunshine âïžâ€ïž
The slow change of the arms in the final formation is 100% me LOL
This whole ballet (The Concert) is AMAZING, I love it
This is my favorite version of the mistake waltz! Iâve watched this video so many times.
this is genuinely funny. i love it
I wonder if it is difficult to dance the wrong steps. I am sure these girls know this ballet by heart, but then dancing it in different steps, might be difficult.
I love this! It's not new, though. I saw a recording of, I think, New York City Ballet performing the Mistake Waltz back in the 90s. And it's older than that. This piece is a classic.
This has always been my favorite dance, i am always entertained by the mistake waltz!!
hii! In a couple months, you are going to be fitting me. Iâm so excited I love your vids
I looooooove this one!!!!!
The Choreography That Goes Wrong. Every performer's had it happen, it's amazing the audience rarely spots it.
LOL I watched this before and I was dying for u to see it and you did!!
The last girl slowly switching her hands always gets me lmfao
Oh I've seen this whole ballet at PNB and it is just hilarious! I also got to see a bit in rehearsal pre covid and that was even more fun
Omg we did one of these for recital this year!!! It was so fun yâall need to try it
One of my favorite ballets! I saw it at the Joffrey years ago and have come back to it over and over since then! Slaughterhouse on 10th Avenue has some great comedic bits too
You should also react to "Ballet Magnifique - Ballet gone bad" it's even funnier
It must be so hard doing that.
I must admit it's nice seeing ballet now appealing to a new audience. My daughter when she turned 11 we went to the cinema to watch the recording live of Alice in wonderland. We then this year did the same and watch Swan Lake.
My daughter doesn't do ballet, she is training to be in theatre either acting or musical theatre. The school she goes to once a year does a week long at a local theatre, its an audition to be in it piece.
They did singing in the rain last year so she is now starting tap in September .
(The school was established in 1904 to be a school for the arts and it has its own theatre and they do shows each year with their class. She did summer school and in a week they did Peter pan and had around 100 pupils on the stage from 3 to 23 in age)
this inspires me to finally choreograph a musical piece that makes me think of three dancers and their teacher. the three dancers keep trying to upstage each other but they all just end up annoying their teacher. it will be bellydance though (which draws plenty of inspiration from ballet). oy! NEEDS to do it!!
you guys should check out the quiner sistersđđâ€ïž
The Tart adage (Royal Ballet) is very funny !
Got to watch if you haven't already - Ballet Magnifique - ballet gone bad
Love it! My favourite ballet parody (I know that here it is not a parody) is from Dortmund ballet, with the dance if the four swans :)
I love comedic ballet especially those done masterfully. Itâs a good thing these are choreographed mistakes as actual mistakes in a ballet routine could injure the dancers.
I also recommend Grand Pas De Deux, DAS ORIGINAL by Christian Spuck & the Dance of the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland.
I donât need heavy comedies so these comedic ballet are enough to brighten my mood.
I â€ïž love it!
I have seen San Francisco Ballet perform the entire Robbins Ballet multiple times. It is very funny. Hopefully, it will be performed again.
Omg Iâve watched that video so many times
OMG MAKE THIS A NEW SERIES!
The Dying Swan by Ballet Trocadero de Monte Carlo. One of the funniest pieces ever.
I really hoped Josephine would see this. I first watched it four years ago and I'm obsessedđ
Me being confused bc they are so good it looks intentional.
#earlysquad !! đ
I am not a ballet dancer but I have always been interested in the art of ballet . But if I were a dancer I would probably be the girl with the glasses lol đ
Pleeeaaase react to âThe tart adage from aliceâs adventures in Wonderlandâ from the Royal Ballet!
Iâm not a dancer, never did ballet in my life, but LOVE this ballet and the fun the dancers have!
This ballet really cool because quite a few viewers in the comments didn't even know it was choreographed mistakes. And for the people who could tell, it's a very entertaining comedy.
I was wondering, not sure if this is the place to ask, but could you do a video of all the different ways you can sew ribbons and why each way is good for different people? For example: why are crossed elastics better for this person but not for another, or why are regular ribbons ok for some but not everyone?
I also love troupes like the Trocaderos. Like any other art form, you have to be incredibly good to pull off deliberately bad and ridiculous.
Love queen of hearts comedy ballet
i am the one with the glass đ€Ł
There's another mistake ballet that's actually my favourite, it's on CZcams under the name "Ballet Magnifique - Ballet gone Bad" and my favourite character is the pink leg warmer
Iâm partial to the ballet shoe nunchucks.
@@MrsWheezer True, they're a close second to me, I just feel like it could have used a bit more screentime to really flesh out the character development
@@namtellectjoonal7230 đđđđ€Ł
The TART ADAGE!! PLEASE do the Tart Adage!
Eric Gauthier's "Ballet 101" is also so much fun. Recently seen it from great Vladimir Shklyarov of Mariinsky on CZcams.
Iâm definitely the sunglasses ballerina
I did this dance it was so fun!! I was the one that went down down up upđ
Thank you.
alright i have no idea if there's a video for this but i saw a ballet at BAM called the hard nut, which was the most hysterical parody of the nutcracker i've seen
I'm the stiff dancer ballerina đ đ„° gotta go stretching, ballet class starts in 2 weeks againđđ€©
If you like this comedy, I can recommend the Grand Pas De Deux from choreographer Christian Spuck! Also a hilarious and fun ballet to see :) There is even a video here on CZcams with former Mariinsky superstar Ulyana Lopatkina
Ah! I was going to recommend the same piece, it's so hilarious!
I would be the girl in the glasses! I've never been a pro though.
So itâs like âThe Play That Goes Wrongâ but ballet
Yep exactly haha
I am so the one in the glasses, in class.
You should react to the Quiner Sisters and Carissa Campbell!!!
I remember at old dance recitals I had to take my glasses off before going on stage so I couldnât see anything and our recitals probably looked just like this
Oh yes im totally the glasses dancer
Could u guys do a part 2 of this where u react to ballet gone bad? I forgot who it's by but it's a much bigger number and it's also rly funny :D
Is there any video evidence of Josephine dancing ballet!? She reacts to her own dancing đ
That would be fabulous. Especially if she wasn't told what video she was reacting to. I'd love to see how long it took Josephine to realise she was watching herself!
Can you react to the whole Leap movie? But you can make a part two if it's too long pleaseđ
Is this a parody just going by the thumbnail? I'm seeing it now! The end was funny, with the arm change!
This was actually a copy of the original one but they did sooooo good
Always the glasses wearing dancer đđ»ââïžđŹ
