    He doesn't mean RM or BTS are hypocrites for wearing expensive clothes, he means that people can complain beacuse BTS wears expensive clothes, but BTS buy those clothes because they work their asses off and they don't break their parents spines, while these other people in their 20s continue to depend on their parents

    Alex, we're talking about North Face in South Korea, not in the USA. [Caveat: Also, this was several years ago, when online shopping was not as it is today.] Have you shopped in Tokyo or Seoul? Prices for brand names are ridiculous, outrageously high. That's why Asian tourists LOVE to come to Hawaii and shop in outlet malls, where brand names are super a** cheap (according to their standards). Our regular malls expanded specifically to target the Asian tourist market - before COVID, it was quite a boom.

    • @pur02
      @pur02 Před 2 lety +56

      i am an Asian and I can confirm. here, the branded clothes have VERY high price tags and most people don't earn as much to just spend their money while eyes closed. we however, like to wear the 2nd copies or the thrifted clothes cuz they fit in our budget and pays our bills. tho local brands are also popular, but definitely not as much as the BIG names in the west.

      Yes, not only in Asia, until not so long ago these type of brands were terribly expensive even in Europe, like all imported stuff (I'm Spanish) Not only brands like North Face (yes, I remember there were also different prices, grading depending on how thick the jackets were - same as you will grade a feather duvet), but Fruit of the Loom t-shirts, Levi's jeans, etc. were extremely expensive and considered status items in High School.

    The most amazing thing about BTS's music in my opinion is that even now the topics that they discussed 3, 5, or 7 years ago are still relevant and relatable. Their songs have just aged so well, and their earlier songs are interesting to analyze retrospectively, especially knowing where they are today.

    First time leaving a comment on your videos and I want to say as much as I enjoy watching anything about BTS, I really have started enjoying your reaction videos on them so much as well. Your journey into their videos and your reactions, remind me so much of my own early days of turning from a curious music lover to a fan and then to an Army (which was just last year itself!). From listening to one song as CZcams recommendation, falling in love with it, wanting to know their names and then just the long dive into the BU which used to leave me so much confused to in starting and looking for Eng Subs and Explanation videos. But just because their videos are not in language that I know didn't mean that stopped me from either listening to them, watching them and now just having my own bias (and bias wreckers... so basically now all 7 are my Bias). But truly enjoy all your reaction videos.... have seen them all recently in last couple of days and your reactions as someone discovering BTS are so genuine and your reactions as filmmaker are so informative. Cheers!!

    You have to understand they are talking about South Korea so $300 USD in the USA might be = $500 USD in South Korea. You ever travel and see see something way cheaper back home that they want a ridiculous price for overseas. Tariffs and Taxes make good more costly in other places.

  • @Alexeya13

    BTS has super creative lyrics. The word-play they pull off is amazing. You should react to "UHG" and "DDaeng", and then "Explained by a Korean''. Those 2 songs/raps are great on their own, but when you know the meaning behind the lyrics you see just how insanely clever are.
    I love watching the explanations. There are so many slangs and cultural references we would never understand otherwise.

      ddaeng is probably my favorite rap-line song. It's really cool to see how the trio's songs evolved in both subject matter and lyrical style. Something I too would love for Alex to explore.

      @@elisiagoncalves6773 ddaeng is THE BEST song in terms of lyricism and melody and Individual style of rapline. It still blows my mind that how many interpretation one can get from a single song depending upon the Individual and it's no less than /an art/. But alex's work is related to filmmaking and is quite understandable if he doesn't listen/react to that. But yeah we'd love to see :)

    I love the explanation video's the DKDKTV do. I would recommend you watch their video: Why BTS's early music is so relatable for Korean youth.
    Even off camera because it doesn't cover a specific song. It has some explanation about the way the Korean Economy is, because of the massive rapid economic growth, which explains some other the things why things are more expensive (Though even in the UK North Face padded jackets cost anywhere between £50-2000+). I would also because there is no MV attached recommend looking at Baepsae and DKDKTV's explanation of it in your own time too as that also goes some way in explaining the Economic situation of a lot of Korean Youths. While a lot of the same issues effect a lot of the rest of the world to they seem to be worse in Korea due to the kind of growth that took a lot of countries a couple of hundred years happening in just 50ish, and it's apparently very apparent the difference if you go out of Seoul and into the Korean countryside.

    You were surprised about the weather ratings, but in Canada, you need to know if your jacket is rated for light cold, medium cold or hell-froze-over cold, so most winter jackets here will have some sort of information about how much insulation they provide.

    Also $300 for a jacket.... calling that not expensive is.... well the reason why Spine Breaker needed to be a song lol. Care to take a guess as to how much money the average labourer earns, especially over in Asia...? If you think it's inexpensive then good for you but... for the kids who might hear that "Oh it's not that expensive" when it'd take their parents weeks to save up that amount of money while non-branded jackets work just as well at a fraction of the cost well.... yeah.

What the heck, have they even heard their first albumes? This song (and many others) is NOT about LOVE, it's about a social issue, and it's clearly a criticism. OLD ARMYS ARE IN LOVE WITH THIS CONCEPT. This is a raw BTS; a BTS that tries to put conscious into your head without being nice and cute about it. This is how they became big... not shitty pop songs in english.
