DOPE was their big “we made it” vid after I Need U and they really wanted to show off their well earned success. Definitely more than just a celebration video. :)
yes but I read that Bighit was still struggling a lot with finance at the time and they really put all their money in this MV
@@Dh-uj8pr Honestly it doesn't look *that* expensive. It was most probably filmed in a single location on a single (long) day, and they don't have multiple outfits. The seamless transitions are quite spectacular, but this is more about preparing the shoot beforehand than budget.
@@ashurasama you can search Korean articles, lots of credible source said the special camera for this mv took tremendous amount of money!

This was the video that got me into BTS. I watch a show on You Tube called React. It was in Sept. of 2015. They had an episode called You Tubers react to KPop. It was the 3rd in a series. I had watched all the episodes (I think they had 5 or 6) and thought KPop was interesting, but something about BTS caught my attention. They only show bits of the video, so I looked up the actual video. Then I watched a few more. Here I am. 6 years later, totally hooked. I am a proud 67 year old Army who is so proud of these 7 amazing men.
I have the same experience as you!!! It was because of that same React video. I was not into kpop at all, just watched it out of boredom. This particular group caught my eye so I went and watched the official video for the MV. Asked about the guy in police uniform, an ARMY was fast to reply in the comments and down the rabbit hole I went. This was in August 2017, loved ot7 for almost 5 years now

That was the video that caught my attention when I was look up their videos the day after their first BBMA win. When RM showed up to do the intro, I fell for the beauty that he has.....and 4+ years later as an ARMY Fan I still feel that special feeling when I see him. 😍💜
Same here! I watched because of Dan and Phil, but Dope caught my attention. I would catch their new videos when they came out, but really fell down the rabbit hole in 2018.

I really love dope, this MV is from 2015, when Bangtan still had a low budget. As well as with spine breaker, this song has a deeper message than it seems, it would be great if you see some explanation video of the song
I think that opening scene from jk to jimin to the group dancing is not a one take because RM and JK had to change outfiots for the group dancing. It’s editing magic though 🤨

You should watch the "Making of" vid for this. I believe the drones were CGI and RM's solo (with everyone popping out behind him) was done with him in front of a green screen. The moving brick wall in the "elevator" was also green screen.
I was thinking about green screen too with RM there...wonder why Alex didnt think about this. You can catch it when V got near to him in the last second before it goes to another scene, they would never make it like this in a real dance.

This is one of my favorite BTS videos. It's a good mix of themes and dancing, the sets are great, the costumes are great, and I like the camera work. It's missing a little bit of a story element, but this isn't really a song that demands that IMO.

the first transition with jhope and the flags are done the same way as the ones in HeartBeats MV, you know when you isolate the person on the front and cut the background out and insert the next scene into it, you usually notice it with how the outlines of that person in the front looks (sorry for my english i hope it makes sense)

You caught it with the 'one take'...tp a point. They did some green screen to move from one scene to the next. So in reality, they did about 6 separate passes with green screens and camera moves to change from one scene to the next.
As for RM's scene, you're right....to a point. He did his part in a green screen as the rest did their part on set. I noticed that the timing was off on V touching RM's shoulder....when seeing the video on a big screen.
Plus, RM knew how Americans use the word Dope as a slang word for 'cool' when he was writing the song. As well as his intro, knowing how people might see the MV as their 1st BTS MV.
A few moments ago the MV of "My Universe" just came out, I hope that after 24 hours you can react to the video, it's so pretty

There’s another version of Dope I saw a couple days ago. It isn’t staged like this one. It’s all backlighting. I don’t like the “they’re shining lights in my eyes” feeling. I couldn’t see their faces. I like the deep bass sound in Dope.
