Calf’s are looking super
We had bad crypto for a few years but we now feed extra protein pre calving which raises colostrum quality and we have no crypto now and haven’t had it for 3-4 years, we don’t wash buildings or disinfect either. A lot around here doing this and all as far I’m aware it works

We calve over 200 cows a year and suffered with crypto for the most of 25yrs. Until 3yrs ago we started using Parofor powder. Expensive but not one single calf has taken crypto since. Just incredible. I nearly cried when the first calves on it never scoured. Complete game changer and the only product on the market that works 100%. Calves just thrive from birth.
Parofor is similar gabbrovet. It’s not expensive when it works. Dosnt take too many calves saved to make up the cost of it. And the peace of mind and stress saved on yourself is priceless

@@JimmyDalton-yq2ei For suckler calves, If a calf is born today, the following morning I give it a scoop 25g in a drop of warm water, less than 100ml and use a large syringe to fire it down its throat for 5 mornings. For the dairy herd, I mix the powder with a drop of milk in a bottle and teat and once it drinks it, I give it the rest of its milk. Don’t want to mix it in a full bottle and then the calf only drinks half the milk and doesn’t get the full dose of powder.

Been times you would have swaped the telehandler..
It’s not that I couldn’t, I don’t want to change the handler. I like the deere machine. I want to keep this one. The second hand ram is better then my own and with do to have a spare as I’ll send mine to get a new barrel and refurbished. As they stopped making the John Deere handler near 20 years ago. Getting parts is going to become harder so these spares will be great. I might buy a second handler in future. But the Deere will be a life time keeper 😁👍

From when their born.
Are you giving every calf gabrovet? Or only the calf’s that are sick?
Every calf get both products from birth . Gabbrovet for 3/ 4 days. Probiotics For up to 14

Hi gerry, im in the crypto situation bu i have 5 more to calv,, im giving them gabrovet fo 5 days and then letting them out. Im looking in to the probiotics but would it be any good for just 5 days , after that there out in the field and u wouldn't have a hope of catching them. Thanks
5 days is better then nothing. I’ll be the same when I get to my last cows…. The be getting out after few days .
If cows wer calfed inside and turned out straight away after day gerry would this stop crypto issues!going end april may june calving cant deal with another spring like this gerry!carrying calf back indoors on cow.Easy buy meal cant deal with the hassle indoors anymore its torture!
No we have had calves take the crypto after being turned out straight after calving. And had to take back in to treat them. Once it’s in the heard. There’s no escaping. It’s a nightmare

I had a similar experience with sheep near 40 years ago when I was young. Hate those rotten hateful wolly vermin dirt with a passion. Cows all the way, even with the odd issue. Lol.
What will I say 20 suckler cows all bread at home no cow or heffer bought in charge I the bull every 2 to 3 years AI the heifers not prone to infection if cow was born in the same farm have an outside farm 20 miles away every wenling is bought different story when there coming from a mart you run a savage shop fare play i have good time for your farming you know your stuff 👍hope the weather improves in Co Clare and your side of the country worst in living memory says my uncle on the outside farm 94 Yr stay at it we know nothing else good at our job stick at it the good for nothing people in the Dail living in Disney world at our expense
