The George reference actually comes from the crazy old book, Of Mice and Men. George is a character in the book who was very large and accidently squished things by petting too hard and looney tunes parodied it with their character naming everything George like Bugs Bunny. 🙂
I remember the call you george from a cartoon where a big dog wanted friends and his owner brings him a squirrel i think and in the end he hugs him too hard saying i had a friend once but he dont move no more

The fact that i flipped out when we got the tangles due to my atrocious luck (update he gets it more than once)
Same, after spending a good few hours roaming about and getting one pollen storm and two tangle slimes, and zilch on the dervish slimes, not five minutes after quitting for the day I remember "...Oh yeah, gordo snares are a thing."
