- Zach Sobiech is a 17 year old diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. With only months to live, Zach turned to music to say goodbye.

SO WELL! The movie was perfect. The way they quoted him, depicted his goofy personality, casted actors so perfectly, and cared about little details. Honestly amazing, just beautiful to see.

He didn’t deserve to die. He deserved to live a long happy life with Amy and all his family and friends. He deserved that Nissan GT-R for his whole life. But, Cancer didn’t let that happen. Yet he is still a legend today

For some reason the one thing that sticks most in my mind from knowing Zach is the silence and feelings that happened when they read his name at graduation. We all paused, gave honor to his life and I could almost feel him walking across that stage with a huge smile on his face… weird watching this over 12 years later since it popped up on my feed

I fell in love with his story though so much so that i did a presentation on him and his life and on his moms book in my college critical reading class.

I knew about this story 5 years ago. I’m also from Minnesota where Zach is from. I’ve watched this video quite a few times & i always ball my eyes out. If you haven’t read the book “Fly a little higher” By Laura Sobiech, I definitely recommend it. It’s Zach’s story based on her journey with him. Excellent read.

I’m so thrilled that people are coming here after seeing “Clouds” and learning more about him! Was so devastated when he passed away. I encourage everyone to learn more about childhood cancer and osteosarcoma, it is not as rare as people think. 1 in every 285 kids will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday, and only 4% of all money in the national cancer institute goes to childhood cancers. Osteosarcoma hasn’t had a new drug treatment in over 30 years. We need to do better!

These good people, who live to Love...who already appreciated their lives before they were sick, who face Death and still say 'Thank You' ...they get struck with things like this. makes me so sad they can't grow old. I am from Stillwater. I never met Zach but I know people who did. The fact that this guy was from not only the same state, but the same city is overwhelmingly cool to think about. When Clouds came out, everyone was extremely excited and it was in the school newspapers. Our community will always remember Zach and his accomplishments.
Clouds destroyed me emotionally. Haven’t cried like that in a long time. Rest In Peace Zack - I do believe you’re in a better place

Every couple of months, whenever I feel down and just dejected for not having achieved much in life, I come here and I cry. Watching Zach's story instantly gives me hope. He's a ray of positivity and he shows you that you can make the most out of your life even if your days are limited. It makes me so happy to see the impact he made on everyone's life. How is it possible to feel such heartache for someone you never have or will meet? I cried over this young man no actually I sobbed watching his story. Not out of pity but the fact this amazing, talented, young man with the most beautiful heart isn't here and the world is a much poorer place without him. The positivity in this young man, he literally glows. Watching the follow up with his family was incredibly hard they're amazing people too and I can't imagine the pain they've gone through.Thank you for sharing him, his story and his outlook, anyone that hasn't heard of him I send them here and everyone has the same reaction. I saw this doc when I was 19. And now being 29, I got to live a lot more time than Zach did, but never as much. Checking this doc out again reminded me that life doesn't start when you know it's coming to an end, every single day is a gift.
First hours of 2021.I found this movie. Unfortunately there is no cure for osteosarcoma, yet. But from this drama I will always remember his words: " you don't have to find out that you are dying, to start living". Thank you,Zach!🌷🌷

I've just watched this 2023! And all I can think is an Earth Angel came here for a short time to fulfill a specific purpose then went back home. Struggling with lethargy & depression Zach has inspired me to live now & not wait for a perfect time - there's no perfect time but now.
That young man was an Angel sent to educate all of us, very sad but beautiful story.

My Biology teacher showed us this and it shocked me how so many students didn't feel anything at all, like their heart was black from the start...
+UndeadNeko302 Everyone handles grief or hard to handle topics/themes/stories in different ways. Plus there's always the emotional detachment alot of people have when something isnt happening right in front of them. Its not really fair to call someone cruel or that their heart was black, humans are social creatures we form our ideals and morals largely based on the area we live and grow up in. Besides directing hate or bitterness towards more hate or bitterness dosent help. Keep a positive outlook no matter what and try and help others reach a positive outlook themselves.
Sad but true. I remember our history teacher back in high school showed real film of the piles of human bodies of WWII concentration camp victims being moved around and buried in mass graves. There were close ups of their lifeless bodies, etc., and so many kids in class were laughing at it. If this is the sort of cold hearted, dark, selfish, callousness inside of so many people, then it makes me sad for this world's future. I like to be kind, but to be honest, I've grown tired of so many others' coldness over my 41 years on this earth.
Also many teens have been desensitised to violence because of media. :(

I am severe bipolar and when i was going through a manic faze for over three months i watched his videos every night to help me through my suicidal thoughts. i feel as though he saved my life because of his positive attitude throughout his whole experience, I just want to say i grew to not only love your son but your entire family. i feel as though he saved my life when i had thoughts of suicide. being severe bipolar is normal to take your life, your son seriousluy saved my life.I have no words to explain how much i love him,

How could you dislike this video? I'm a 15 year old guy and I sobbed throughout the whole thing. No one wants to think about death because it's so scary, but he lived it every day and was happier than I ever am. Him and his family are incredibly strong. I read the fault in our stars and this little film reminded me of it. But this is real life and the only reason the book was so good was because it was an unrealistic outcome for a situation like that. But he was the real thing. My worst fear is being told how much longer I have to live. Because I am 100% positive that my assumed life expectancy would tear me to shreds and would live out the rest of my time absolutely miserable. I need a hug after seeing this, it's so inspiring but so unfair.

I have my own views.
I liked the thing, it was a touching story. But there is one small problem.
People die like this every day. Hundreds, maybe thousands. And even if they went through as much grief as Zach's family, it seems almost insulting to glorify one person's death while not caring about another.
If we all are to die, why do so few get chosen to have their lives told in this way? What makes one's death more important than someone else's?
You can argue it was his musical talent. But if he had not had that cancer, if he lived his life out like a normal human being, and died at peace in his 90s, would "clouds" have been the monstrous hit it was? Maybe. But the song's success was built on guilt. If you didn't like the song, you didn't approve of a dying teenager's final thoughts on life. People would say you were a soulless monster.
Its not that his death is tragic, its that many people go through this suffering without 14 million CZcams views. If you had a relative die from cancer, does it seem far that their life went without the media's notice and Zach did?
I say yes, it is reasonable to cry at this. It is normal to feel sad. But do not glorify his death, as hundreds suffer the same way as we speak.
Sam Katz I understand where you're coming from and agree that his death shouldn't be anymore glorified than anyone elses. But I don't think I glorified him passing more than I would anyone else's death. If there was a video for every single person that died, I'm sure I'd feel moved for all of them, and I don't know where you got the idea that I don't care about the other people that died because of course I do, I know it might appear that way because I didn't mention anyone else, but this video wasn't about them and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. And why is it so bad to have millions of people standing by him and sending loads of support to his family to help them get through this process. I know that this is only one person and we should acknowledge that this happens all the time and we don't support them because we can't support everyone but if there's an opportunity to share this type of thing to people I think that's great. And my grandmother passed away from cancer about three years ago and I didn't care that she didn't get tons media attention because she knew that we cared and we knew that we cared and we didn't need millions of people supporting us to show that.

I really love how they captured this family in the movie. It’s so accurate, and i love how they didn’t change it for a movie. This movie really keeps the memory of Zach alive.
I've been complaining a lot about life lately and I had to rewatch videos like these to remind myself that people like Zach makes me grateful that I am still blessed with a promise of tomorrow..no illness or anything..I am ashamed. Zach truly inspires me, regardless of how long he's passed since.
As I sit in my own cancer battle, with no hope of a cure and struggling through treatments to try to prolong life. Watching this was so touching. Zach is an inspiration to so many in my shoes. His family and friends are so amazing and I am so proud of them for sticking by Zach and helping his dreams come true.

He has such a beautiful genuine smile that has a calming effect. So tragic he did not live past 18 and has live more than most of us. Rest in eternal peace Zack!

In grade 2 I was diagnosed with cancer in February. In grade 4 I was free of cancer. It is the worst thing in world. I was diagnosed with leukemia. Most children do not survive. I am so grate full to have survived. God bless anyone who lost their life and God bless there families, and everyone else going through that right now

I've never cried so hard. Rest in peace Zach. I watched my dad die of a sarcoma. That terminal diagnosis from day one is soul crushing and it's amazing that anyone can go on when they hear it. It takes a lot of strength, courage, and bravery. Not just for the person going through it, but for the family and friends.
All the dislikes were from the people who got teary eyed and accidentally pressed the dislike button but they tried pressing the like button💖
