Welcome to another edition of Plane Spotting at Manchester Airport.
Today we give you a full tour of the Runway Visitor Park at Manchester Airport. It's one of the best airfield spotting locations in the UK thanks to the excellent facilities provided by the airport and The Aviation Society.
You can get up, close and personal to the aircraft that are taxiing to depart or have arrived on Runway 1 (23R or 05L). You often get a wave from the pilots as they are so close!
The Runway Visitor Park at Manchester Airport is a great place for kids - it's totally safe and there is a playground, little funfair and other attractions on site. There's also a cafe and toilet facilities.
The RVP is also home to one of the few remaining Concorde's - this one is G-BOAC. This aircraft was British Airways' flagship Concorde, due to its BOAC registration. It was the first Concorde delivered to BA.

I went here today and went into the aviation shop and got a Gemini jets a321 neo jet2 holidays and saw the emirates a380, jet2 757-200 tanker jet2 a330 and two a350 virgin Atlantic and Singapore airlines

would a 18-55mm lens be ample for this? i fear it is not long enough, it was alright at the airport pub but this one seems not as close. i am interested in buying a 55-200mm lens soon but i want to know if the 18-55mm will hbe enough;;.
Hi. Not really - you need at least a 200mm lens or longer to get decent close-ups from the RVP. You might get away with it if you’re at Southside and they’re departing on 23L. Hope this helps.

shes from the romper to park plese let me know when a footpath is put down and there is a 10mph sign there will be a death otherwise

My family and I visited the viewing park at the beginning of June. All was fine until a youth ,who was with some female relatives, walked into the viewing park , wearing a blue head dress/ veil thing. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that he had a SWORD strapped to his side. He seemed to be pleased that people were looking at him and probably thinking " what the hell?".
I was so unnerved that I packed my family up and we were out of there.
There were no security people that i could tell about someone walking around with a sword, which is ridiculous.
I know many people will say it was probably perfectly innocent.... something on religious grounds or whatever....I don't care.
I tried to complain to the airport but have had no reply.... typical.
I shall not be returning to the park until security is in place.
I have been going there for years and never seen police or security.
May i point out that there have been horrendous knife attacks in our country and in France very recently.

I did eventually get a response from the airport. They said that " customer services staff" who were onsite on the day ( probably a lie), saw the youth with his sword and yes, of course, it was a religious item.
At the end of the day, it is still a sword.
I asked if it was ok to take it to the viewing park, can I therefore walk through the airport with a sword? Guess what,... No response.
These so called security people need to get a grip and stop being scared of being called racist.
