  • Our fridge starting showing rust only a few years after purchasing it, so rather than buying a new fridge to replace one that worked perfectly fine, I painted it. This shows the steps I took to stop the rust and paint the fridge with appliance epoxy spray paint. Here's how to paint a fridge to stop rust and make it look new.

If anyone is watching this now
I used Lysol lime and rust clinging gel (for toilets) and put plastic food wrap over it
I let it rest for a gooooood while (1 hour lol)
    And the rust was gone.

So glad I found this tutorial! I just did the first few steps. I’m about to take the door off, tape it up, and go for it! You might have said, but I missed it, but how long did you let the rust reformer dry? I’ll probably have figured that out by time you see this and can reply, but maybe others are curious, too. Thx again for the tutorial!

@@RefreshLiving Thanks! I used baking powder and then sprayed vinegar and the rust cleaned up and a black spot was left. I cleaned it, let it dry and sprayed with appliance epoxy, the color didn’t have to match because it is not gonna live inside the house anyway. It worked. The paint is taking a while to dry as its humid here. I am happy to have watched your video bc it gave ideas :)

Ours rusted after my wife cleaned it with a clorox product. That was about 2 years ago and it's getting worse. It really bothers her. It's a Roper also. Coincidence I'm sure.

frog tape. or just make sure its really clean so the adhesive sticks better. I have heard of pros using Vaseline instead of tape. paint wont stick or dry out on Vaseline, then you just wipe it off when the paint is dry.
