Nice clean Banshee,I had a 1989 Banshee with a dynoport 2 into 1 exaust. Still have 2 1985 Tri-Z 250's, 1983 ytm200 and 2 2000 Blasters,one Blaster is almost stock and the other is,,,, scary ;) All just sit in the garage lookin good. I wish they would bring 2 strokes back. Also have 2 1990 Yamaha lawn tractors.

The Viking sweet banshee!! I’m on the lookout for one myself. So as far as the upgrades you said you want to do, I did all the same mods on my 96 with the Toomy T5’s as well and it was an animal!! I will say though, I got another in 03 and did the exact same thing except I went with the FMF SST pipes and was WAY better! The power comes in way lower and a lot smoother and still pulls your arms out of the sockets on the top end like the Toomy’s do. Just thought I’d throw my two cents in, either way, it will be fun.
Nate Stone Thanks for the compliments and input. I love the sound of the T5’s have had several set up like this over the years and loved them for my style of riding. FMF’s are no joke and my 2nd choice for pipes. I’m just ready for warmer weather so I can really tune in my setup. Good luck with your search hope you find a good one 🤘💨
When it be amazing if you could fuel injection set up that thing. I'll never forget my street bikes for always carbureted you know multiple cylinder balancing carbs blah blah blah. What a nightmare. But when I got my Ducati Monster and it was just automatic adjustment for every temperature change barometric pressure change hot cold didn't matter, it was awesome. That would be the ultimate setup try to figure out a way to get fuel injection on that thing if it's even possible

Don’t put a boost bottle on it. They don’t do anything for performance except for crack your intake boots over time. They’re a huge gimmick

Dirt ObseXXion my first bike was a 1977 Yamaha enduro dt 175, I holed it, sold to my brother in 06 and he fixed it. My brothers first bike was a Honda 1977 cb 750 F...I believe the same bike but a 1975 sold this week at Mecum for $25k...wow! Keep em coming.

Banshees are okay with stock exhaust, but once you put pipes on them they wake up and become exciting.

Oh yeah brother! Two strokes are super fast! That motor came from a RZ350, an old school sport bike, and it was known for smoking 750 4 strokes.. You need to get on a 450r or a Raptor or something sometime.. You'd be surprised what they can do!

I always wanted a Banshee after I rode the one our dealership here had repoed with a blown motor and their employees got together and rebuilt it with all new hi performance parts and when we'd all go riding they'd let me ride it because I'd had a Honda 250r ATC that was bored and stroked by them And boy I loved riding those 2-stroke smokers especially when I added that real good racing oil mixture to it

Dirt ObseXXion it's wild you can pull a wheelie extremely easy probably to easy I put the one I had over backwards several times and where you kick start a Banshee backwards like a motorcycle the 250R ATC you kicked it forward leaving you to hit your heel on the foot peg ( talk about hurt ) I used to take my niece riding when she was only a couple months old and she loved it now I take her kids riding on my Commander and both girls love it but only one of the twin boys does which is weird because when they were young it was the boy that does care a whole lot about it he is the one that did then But I think that I can get him back

I hear ya! They actually ran until 2012 in Australia, but I talked to an Aussy the other day who said you don't see many of them there..

I couldn't agree more! I think the most likely thing to come out would be a fuel injected 450 (new TRX or something maybe) but it would kick ass if Yamaha dropped a 500cc 2-stroke quad! There's rumors of a YZ500 but I'm not sure if it's actually coming out or anything

Why things like a time capsule good job. Looks like it's running a little Rich to me though. Got a question for you does it have to choke knobs? one on each carburetor or is there one lever that adjusts both knobs at the same time? I was just curious about that.
Yeah it was rich, that's the gas that was in it when he bought it.. One choke knob controls both carbs, not sure exactly how it restricts the airflow, I'd have to take a closer look..

Banshees are so corked up with the stock pipes. I just got a mint 2001 that's all stock. She's fast and fun but I can tell there is still a lot of potential just waiting to be unleashed.
Mine has pro circuit pipes, and they do sound nasty. But I've always kind of liked the sound of the stock pipes too.

They move pretty good, they just get too clapped out sometimes... Contrary to popular belief you can have too much power for a 3oolbs machine..

Does the Viking have any recommendations on where to take a 2 stroke for jetting and tuning?? My new scrambler 400 is bone stock, original, and has tons of compression. Lots of potential there to tap into. I’d like to pipe it and the pipe seller says it must be jetted and a new spring put on. I have no idea how to rejet and tune a 2 stroke. Polaris in bowling green don’t mess with 2 stroke anymore ( it’s been 20 years 😂). Need a good shop that can make my scrambler 4x4 scream!!

I’ve got a street bike with the same engine, but mine has “YPVS” on it (1985 RZ 350).
Toomy pipes, with their “y boot” is an awesome combo. Reeds are a great idea too and if ya got a few bucks, Lectron carbs are great. Boost bottle, not sure it’s necessary, but it’s your ride. Try dropping one tooth up front?

Keep the two-smokers alive!
Look up “Wicked Motorsports”, they have everything you need to make that thing mental, if that’s where you want to take it. Either way, check them out.

Dirt ObseXXion, yep, yellow and black. It was made in red and white, but they are half the value. The RD 400 Daytona was the last year of the air-cool Street screamers. It was made to commentate Yamaha’s win at Daytona. I love my two-smokers! Got a nice CR 250 for the dirt and a Triumph Daytona 675R for the serious rides.

Do you know what 2 stroke oil the Viking uses?? You guys seem to like the smell of it. I have some quicksilver I grabbed while in a hurry but it doesn’t real smell at all. May order some amsoil interceptor 2 stroke oil unless the Viking has a suggestion 👍🏼
Oh and what tires are those?? Would look good on my scrambler! I want sport tires instead of mud claws

The Viking thanks man! I heard the dominator is more for racing motors that get tore down frequently and inspected because it doesn’t keep motor clean for long periods. I got a 400 scrambler and don’t plan on doing any tear down and just want it to run as long as possible. Would you still run dominator in one of those or interceptor??
They stopped making Banshees in 06 so how do you have ‘08 plastics?

Why is it smoking from only one exhaust?
It was in need of some tuning.. Once it got warmed up it ran ok, but its dialed in now with Toomey's, Reeds, and a Jet kit

A super clean one in the condition this one is in would be somewhere around 5-6k in the US.. Might not be worth it to add in shipping costs to Italy.. Good luck with the search!

I remember when they first came out, had a buddy that got one totally bad ass, Then the silver spoon rich kid in town got a 500 Suzuki Quadzilla CRAZY fast, used to take it outside of town were people drag race and would outrun guys in souped up cars. 🌬👋
You still have to be a silver spoon rich kid to get a Zilla! That's kinda what I hoping to find, but 5k doesn't get a zilla that's anywhere near the shape of this Banshee.. Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, the Banshee was cancelled in the US in 05 so the 06 was the last model years at dealers. It ran until 08 in Canada and 2012 in Australia and the orange came from those later years, 08-10..
