    Marc, I believe I have watched every video you've made at this point. you're great.

    Oh man- thanks so much for your videos.. *really* helping me to quickly appreciate what I've got.

    You sold me on the volcas and now you've sold me on this. Unfortunately it's back ordered for another 2 weeks. I can't wait to get mine in. I agree, there are some Odyssey sounding tones. I also hear some similarities with the old Oberhiem (sp?) synths. This thing can produce some pretty warm tones. Kudos, friend!

      +Dylon Merrell Hey, thanks! I hope that... somehow... your wait passes quickly!

      +AutomaticGainsay One can only hope. But I don't expect it haha.

    Another question, how short can the Delay time get? I use an EHX Deluxe Memory Man with my BS2 and I set the delay time very short so I get this almost wave doubling effect, making the sound even phatter. Are you going to do a video covering the Delay section?

  • @BoxDoom
    @BoxDoom Před 8 lety +1

    I started applying these techniques to my Sub 37. Especially since I realized I can route the filter eg to the amp eg and use the regular filter eg to control the transient.

    I might be dating myself but the click reminds me of the key click you used get on the old Hammond B3s. I like it. It gives the patch a percussive effect.

    Holy cow indeed batman!
    It has a sound. It's got some Oddysey-like stuff going on as well

      +Braincoral Music Yes! The Odyssey actually has similar functionality in regard to being able to direct the envelope to the oscillator pitch along with sync, etc.!

  • @ZombieTactics
    @ZombieTactics Před 8 lety +1

    This pitch envelope capability was the key factor in the sound of the brass lead in Toto's "Rosanna". There is some ancient Steve Porcaro video where he demonstrates how to create the patch on an Oberhiem Expander.

      +ZombieTactics Thanks. I can almost imagine the giant mound of cocaine just off camera where he's burying his face in between takes. Man is that guy wired.

    When I first heard the Minilogue I thought it sounded a lot like my old CZ-101. Listening to this, even more so. You can get really similar sounds using the eight stage envelopes.

    Yo, Marc. Thanks for these great videos. Can you show the Minilogue's capability of acting as a bass synthesizer? I'm considering replacing my Bass Station 2 with this but I'm somewhat concerned about range, fatness, etc. I know the Minilogue doesn't have a specifc pre-filter overdrive or built-in distortion (can be solved with a pedal obv). I'd really like to hear some bass tones with some of the other voice modes like Duo, Unison, and Mono.

      @saardean4481 Před 8 lety +1

      Don`t sell BS2!!!! Save money and buy this too. BS2 is a very good synth. You are going to regret it. They complement each other but they won`t replace one another. Btw BS2 is one the of the best (affordable) bass synths (and not only) out there

    • @RhombusLabs
      @RhombusLabs Před 8 lety

      I haven't, most likely won't for a long while. I don't think anymore that the Minilogue could replace the BS2. I recently added an EHX Deluxe Memory Man, recalibrated for shorter delay times, so now the BS2 sounds even bigger. If I ever replace the BS2, it'll be with something bigger like a Matrix Brute.

    When you say 'cars effect' do you mean as in Gary Numan ? or the band of that name ?

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  Před 8 lety +3

      +True Slice Ha ha, I wondered when someone was going to ask that. I am making reference to one of the more iconic implementations of the sync effect: The Cars' "Let's Go."

      Thanks Marc, you had mentioned it previously, but this time I had to ask :) Being a newcomer to synths (now that they are more affordable) I'm unfamiliar with sync.

    Dunno what to say. The clicking has not been an issue for me at all. But that might be because I tend to prefer swells in the envelope, anyway. I actually forgot about it until I now see that you loaded these past two videos.
    Here's a video of me adding the Minilogue to one of my recent jams.
