One of the things that people don't really know about that Tyrone Tate and Alfred are cousins their blood cousins Tyrone Tate did start the Hickory Crips because he was influenced by Tookie. and he wanted to become a Crip after the Green Jackets. it was first Alfred Pygmy. but that's not Alfred. real last name. There is three brothers Alfred. Ronald. and Donald. The two twins. by them being so short that where the name come from someone they know gave them that name in the hood that Alfred.knows It comes from a old black-and-white African movie that had the natives pygmies in it that's where the name come from and they never lived in the Jordan down. They lived on 107th and Grape Street. across from the Jordan Downs Tyrone Tate. never live in the Jordan Downs either he lived on Hickory Street. but they hung out in the Jordan down projects. way back early 60s pygmy was first then came the Green Jackets Jordan Downs. in the Nickerson Gardens Green Jackets. through Rhea boyce . And Alfred. Tyrone Tate. Was a green jacket also but later on Tyrone Tate. Starting up Hickory Street Crips. then came Jordan down Crips j.d.c. started up by Pee Wee. from the Jordan Downs . after the Hickory Street Crips from Tyrone Tate. Then after the j.d.c. Crips from there you got Grape Street Watts Crips w.v.g. so on and so forth
It's amazing that these gangs that were started by teenagers in the late 60's/early 70's are still active 50 years later. In my hometown Detroit. We had a lot of street gangs but they pretty much all faded out by the late 80's as guys shifted their attention from gang banging to drug dealing.
