Hi Brian, I really admire you for everything you offer to "us": the world! This Learning how to learn is amazing, thanks Barbara! I really wish I could be all day listening/watching to all your podcasts. Anyway, one great and important thing that can help lots of people is that article you posted as : "Your second brain". Until I bought the probiotic caps I was crying for some reason almost every day. That product with comes with fifty million... worked in a great way and I'm literally a different person since then. I'm very grateful for that, too. Needless to say how many other podcasts have helped me. You are one of the greatest people who helps humanity to improve. The Universe blesses you today and always. Thanks Brian. Margarette
I read the book and did the course, and they were both amazing. The information and the practical advice has really helped me with my university course.
Thank you for interviewing Barbara Oakley. I recently finished her MOOC online course at Coursea "Learning How to Learn." I liked what she said about people who do not have a steel trap mind with short term memory may be more creative! I never realized that might be allowing me to have more creative thoughts slip in. I think this makes me realize that we need to appreciate our differences and not be so self judgmental.
Hey Brian Johnson, I just watched Interview: Learning How to Learn with Barbara Oakley and thought it was great. I'm looking forward to seeing your next one. Thanks again Rob Summers
Really fantastic, just constant "yessssssssss" revelations (had the same thing with your interview with Dr. Eric Maisel) - just totally opens my heart (in as much a non-woo-woo way as possible :P) as it feels you touch upon areas that aren't often looked at - especially including the phycology of self-sabotage behaviour and thinking. and I just love the idea of focused structure bringing the freedom, while allowing for some leeway ("there's somedays I'm not productive at all and that's ok") -- ceiling isn't floor, hey? :D Thank you Brian!
Do have any video about how to learn English as secondary language! I have been practicing English almost 15 yeas and I haven’t fluent in it yet. Working so hard, but still struggling to be master. Do you have any advice or book someone who did and how they they did it. I really love tour videos and learn lot. Thanks again.
chamil liyanage use the site Lingq. I can guarantee you it will be worth it. LingQ is a language learning method from Canadian polyglot Steve Kaufmann. He’s speaks some 20+ languages. I’ve used his method as well, combined with my own learning style and the results have been great. I speak Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese, English, and a little bit of Macedonian and German. When it comes to learning a new language, understanding and listening are key. Try to watch English-spoken Netflix series (or documentaries etc) with English subtitles and pause once in a while to practice pronunciation by reading the subtitles aloud while understanding what you’re saying. Also look up “most used English words” and take a look at those. You can use Anki and learn the words, although it’s better to learn said words in contextual phrases. Also, it helps to talk to yourself (aloud) in English and record yourself speaking. Listen to yourself, the way you say things etc and rate and improve your speaking skills. Try to think in English. Form phrases in your head or recall English words. Make this a habit. I can give you more tips if you want. Goodluck and don’t doubt yourself!
Another fascinating talk! Would you consider the exercises that can be done with Wii Fit (that Nintendo "game" that works with a balance board) to be a reasonable choice? I find going out for a walk too distractive and don't feel comfortable doing it alone.
+Ana Paula Costa Sounds like an awesome way to have fun getting your movement on!! SUPER important to do what we LIKE to do. You might also like Michelle Segar's work on motivation: brianjohnson.me/philosophers-notes/no-sweat/
Thank you for the tip! Now I can play Wii during my breaks without feeling guilty and stop shaming myself for not doing everything as planned: it's all data, after all :)
Brian, your interviews should be a requirement for anyone who wants to learn new things really fast. Thanks again for another insightful interview.
+ssunkite1 Thank you!! :)
