    This fix was a real pain at first. The trick for me was to really get up in there and not worry about breaking anything else or getting zapped or cut. I don't really fix cars, so these worries were a big hurdle for me. Took me three tries (and fixing the passenger one) just to build up the confidence. It's kinda amazing, though, how much you don't need to see when doing this repair. After a few minutes it was pretty easy to just feel your way around. Also, to adjust the motor, I found it easier to pop the casing off and twist things to match the old one. The arrow on the motor definitely helped me line things up. The red tab was tricky too. I had to plug the motor into the power cable first before adding it. And for the big wad of cables, I had to pop out the anchors at two base points just to get enough room to do any of this. Oh my fiesta is a 2018.

    Brilliant description in a way that is very easy to understand and you show the issues that anyone who does this job will expect to find. Love the strip down of the broken part at the end to show the root cause and the failure point. Maybe Ford should address this weakness.

    I had this repaired at a dealer right when the car was out of warranty and they charged $500 for this. After less than a year, the clicking was back. So I took the car in again since the repair had an one year warranty. They made the noise go away. Three months later, the clicking is back again. Now I will attempt to repair this myself. Thanks for the detailed video.

      I had mine in my 2015 FiST repaired under warranty and the itemized receipt also indicated that it was a $500. job (parts and labor). Two years later…, the clicking noise was back. I’ve been living with it for a couple of years. Now that I know how easy it is to replace and how inexpensive the part is…, I’m appalled that they’d value this repair at $500 bucks. Outrageous!

    Thank you! Some other videos kept referring to the recycled air actuator as the blend door actuator so I accidentally replaced that one first :/ When I went to replace the actuator behind the steering column I found that it had been unplugged... When I plugged it in (sure enough) it made a clicking sound. So I guess someone took the easy way out and just unplugged the actuator and didn't mind that the windshield defrost wouldn't work. I fixed it though! Your video was the most accurate and concise vid I watched after hours of looking for the answer. Thanks!!

    What a great video, seriously. My guess is that the teeth break because the blend doors become difficult to move in cold weather. I know this because my company vehicle has manual control knobs and they’re often difficult to turn first thing in the mornings.

    My replacement does not click now but it has also failed. It does nothing. But if I have the car on and just unplug it and plug it back in it resets itself and works. Probably a bad pcb limit switch/position sensor. Pulling the fuse had worked a few times in the past, too.

    This is a super terrific video thanks. I’m trying to help a coworker with his fiesta. The air conditioning isn’t blowing out of his vents but it definitely is blowing cold and hot. I wonder if the driver door actuator could be the culprit? Or maybe it’s the passenger?

    • @MichaelAdamsRocks
      @MichaelAdamsRocks  Před 9 měsíci

      Maybe. This actuator could be completely dead. Other potential causes could maybe be the control unit itself or something is jammed in the blend door. I would probably say there’s a good chance this actuator is the culprit.
