  • I've had the G4 PTZ from Unifi (now known as G4 PTZ Industrial) for a long while now, but at $1,800 the price point of that camera isn't right for everyone... that's why I'm super excited to show you Unifi's brand new G5 PTZ. With a more compact design and even smaller price, this awesome PTZ security camera packs a massive punch in the Unifi Protect line of cameras.

@@DPCTechnology I can understand and respect their desire to establish some product differentiation, but a 2x optical zoom simply misses the mark for an outdoor PTZ camera. There should have been, imho, a minimum of a 3x optical zoom and ideally a 5x for an entry-level product that is going to be functionally excellent. Putting a 2x in there tells me that they just wanted to be able to say that it has an optical zoom at all while putting the absolute least amount of cost into it. But I wouldn't read too much into the camera being out of stock as an endorsement of the performance of the product - the only other PTZ camera they offer is just shy of two thousand dollars. If Unifi released another version with a 5x optical zoom for another hundred dollars or two hundred dollars - I would predict that consumers would choose that. I have several Amcrest PTZ cameras that are 4MP and 25x - they cost me ~$500 each. I'd love to make the switch to using protect, but they are going to have to do a whole lot better in the sub $1k space for me to give up a 25x zoom.

Hoenstly I got in the program by stating honest (and sometimes negative) feedback. They are working hard to improve thier products and process. Leave feedback and feature requests, they are listening..

@@bentheguru4986I there! Im working in telecoms for a good 8 years and installed a lot of Hikvision and A LOT OF OTHER NVR and DVR and seriously... Unifi have the better system of NVR and by a long run ahead. The only thing that is close is BlueIris but its custom and selft hosted on windows. I turned down my blueiris for a UNVR and never come back. Im still using blueiris for non-unifi camera but man... even with some bugs, it nails the competitors to the wall for me.

Not to forget that I have like 5 G3 Flex camera outside mounted directly exposed to the rain and the snow and its not rated for it and they are still strong 5 years later of torture and they survived a tunderstorm that killed my televisions, my guitar amps and a lot more stuff around my house. Unifi gear are not cheap at all.

Didn't do a night shot because you know how bad it is going to be. Terrible specs for this price point. Never heard this guy say anything bad about Ubiquiti, completely unreliable source.

Still no Apple Homelink Secure Video. I want human detections to pop up on my Apple TV while watching tv. And also my Apple Watch. Why is this so difficult?

@@ttss5726 of course I do. Do you know an app is far different than HomeKit itself? HomeKit means deeper integration. The unify “app” you’re referring to will not open and show you a person walking across your lawn. Cameras in Apple HomeKit secure video will have the feed pop up on screen. It would be a simple 1 line of code plugin if ubiquity gave it any thought.

Why is it so JERKY? Why doesn’t it zoom in on his face like a close up? What’s the frame rate? I think this looks like shtt. So glad it sold out before I could press the buy button and I tried. Please show us the new person tracking feature on the 1800$ PTZ. Is it the old hardware with a new name? Or completely new? Honestly I’d rather just take out a 10,000$ loan for the more expensive 1800$ PTZ. Unless of course they’re also jerky like this. I was so excited for auto tracking technology. What a let down.
