  • Colours of Kathak and Flamenco is an electrifying performance of Dance and Music that promotes pluralism in the arts by creating a confluence of two dynamic art forms , Kathak from North India, and Flamenco from Southern Spain. Kathak maestro Hemant Panwar who a composer and a singer brings his original musical sensibilities and creative direction to explore the cultural link and rhythmic similarities as he envisions and incorporates some of his traditional and his new compositions. This collaboration is empowered by the strong choreography of two women - Carmen Romero and Vaishali Panwar. This video clip shows the glimpses of the concert that was staged in Spadina Theatre in February 2022 with the proficient team of musicians Nicolas Hernandez ( Guitar), Pankaj Mishra ( Saarangi), Rosendo Leon Arocha ( Cajon), Neil Budnarain ( Tabla) , Gina Tantalo ( Flamenco Vocals) Vaishnavi Panwar ( Kathak Dancer, Harmonium Player, Singer). The live music experience enhances the beauty of contrasting and connecting dance sequences. One of the highlighting piece of Colours of Kathak and Flamenco is the rhythmic argument in dance between Carmen and Hemant which is extremely exhilarating.
We thank Toronto Arts Council for supporting this project.in which two cultures were blending so beautifully in an intercultural collaboration between Panwar Music and Dance Productions and Compania Carmen Romero
