  • 🎦 About This Video:
    Cancer (especially Stage 4 cancer) is like running a marathon. The only difference is you have no idea where the finish line is and quitting means dying. So, basically, it's NOTHING like running a marathon 🤣.
    ▶️ About This Channel:
    I've always been a storyteller. I've written hundreds of short stories and multiple books, but I always sensed I was meant to share a different story.
    MY story.
    I wasn't sure what that was until I was diagnosed with STAGE 4 Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (a SUPER rare type of cancer for which there is NO CURE).
    I decided to embrace my motto of Living Out Loud and started sharing my journey in vlog format.
    This is my story. Real. Raw. Unfiltered.
    ✅ How To Help:

    The marathon is a good analogy for life! I read that the length of the marathon is calculated to go beyond comfort.
    I had friend who entered into her first half triathlon. The last section was running. Just when she thought she was going to have to stop, her husband shows up and starts running with her he tells her to follow his pace and said encouraging words and she picked herself right up and finishes that race.
    Support! A little bit goes a long way!

    This is actually a good analogy of Life except when a crisis hits, be it Cancer or some other critical illness, then it is more intense. It is like 10 years worth of challenges get squeezed into 1. We will all face crisis in Life though. Be it illness ( of loved ones or our own), Financial like job loss or relationship problems like divorce etc. Sometimes 1 like illness can lead to problems in the other 2 areas like job loss or relationships. Someone on another channel talked about losing friends Since her husband got diagnosed. Like some “ friends” keeping a distance almost as If it is contagious or they dont want to hear about bad stuff. I know you have great support from your best friend. But has it affected your social life with other friends? Do you in anyway feel isolated?

    • @LivingOutLoud-LWS4C
      @LivingOutLoud-LWS4C  Před 10 dny +1

      No, I don't feel isolated at all. I'm definitely looking forward to being reunited with my wife, but I am surrounded by friends and family who are always there for me when I need them. I haven't noticed any relationships being affected by this aside from the one with my mother, but that was a long time coming.

    That was quite a motivational speech. You are well on your way to achieving your goal.
    I would like to know how having Cancer has changed your perception of Cancer. How is it different from what you might have expected. I am raising this question because a friend of mine who is a doctor said he never understood what it was like till he himself got cancer . He had also been Caregiver to his dad 5 years earlier. He said having experienced Cancer as a Doctor, Caregiver and then Patient he got to experience different facets of it.

    • @LivingOutLoud-LWS4C
      @LivingOutLoud-LWS4C  Před 10 dny

      Honestly, I didn't really have an opinion about cancer before I was diagnosed. It seemed to be a recurring theme in my life, but never gave it much thought until I was diagnosed. Even now, I see it more as a challenge, a tool to help me evolve and become the version of myself I've always been meant to become. Hope that answers your question.
