The reason why Malayalam films are best in India is because Malayalam industry is blessed with specialized writers like Syam and the patronage and the respect he gets. Syam deserves all the accolades. He needs to get more fame outside Kerala though .
I feel so fortunate that i was introduced to the Malayalam Cinema. The more I see it the more I get excited. These guys are so much ahead of the curve. Just fantastic!
Malayalam although has the star actors; every person knows and follows who has written, directed it; if not the cinematographer
the directors and writers have enough star power for folks to be pulled into the theatre
It's high time BR come up with a new series "Writing Master Class" with writer-directors, focussing on only the writing part of their journey with a film / films. It's quite fascinating how Syam and Vineeth spoke about their fondness for pen and paper, how the corrections and revisions boost their confidence as a writer and remain as as a souvenir of their journey with the storyline.
It's quite surprising as I haven't seen Syam having such deep conversations before, opening up about his style, writing process and his overall perspective about the film making process.
Great job once again, BR Sir. You certainly have this way to get the best out of the people you talk to. Looking forward to many such conversations, especially with writers.

Adding to the last part, I think what helps in keeping Malayalam film apart is the fact that the production is yet not under corporates unlike Bollywood. When corporates come in, they always need estimates and empirical calculations. This is why they mostly go for 'working' things only and not let people experiment. This is why they cash upon remakes and biopics more often.

Great to see script writers getting their due recognition. Shyam Pushkaran is obviously a big name in Kerala, but we need to give more exposure to creators to really take this industry forward in the right direction.
I can recollect an interview of Aishwarya Lekshmi, kind of how Shym pushkaran works on actors.
A shot where appu in mayanadhi walking, Aishwarya walked in a way, and Shym said this not the way appu walks. From there Aishwarya picked up the character.
I felt after watching interview and also while reading some scripts, scripts are an unenjoyable thing to read, its user manual for that particular movie

Vineeth Srinivasan from the beginning has been really good when it comes to script selection of his own acting skills. For e.g. Cycle, Chappa Kurushu have been some good examples of his movies.
Whenever I see vineeth, he is like a gen kind of guy.. Always with a smile and confident and soft spoken

Fahad is undoubtedly a talented actor, but casting Vineeth in the role of Kanan was a perfect choice and he executed it exceptionally well. There are certain characters that stay with us for a long time and make us question, like 'Mathan' in Mayanadhi or 'Vinod' in My friend. Indeed, Kanan's name has also been added to the list that we would ask ourselves, "But why."
Kudos to FF and Working Class hero's for producing such high-quality entertainment for us.

Amazing interview. Amazing and honest input from everyone.
Also what caught me was the sad reality of not being able to make a movie with women's perspective from these brilliant writers. Reality is that you have to bring something to the table if you need equal pay or equal representations. You have to be able to draw public into the theatres. As long as you don't have that power, you cannot demand anything from an industry like film.
That is where nayanthara or Priyanka Chopra or Deepika Padukone succeeded, they increased their value so much it is exciting to hear about their next movie.

@@harishshan16 Just look at his reviews. His only review of Mammootty movie in 2022 was Puzhu. Over the years I noticed(Im sure others too), noticed that he avoid discussing Mammootty movies. In 2022 Mammootty had stellar year with wide range of roles. Now Mammootty released Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam a classic world class movie. BR not finding time to review it,wheras he did a video on longetivity of Mohanlal nd reviewed his recent crap movies like Monster etc. Where he ignored Rorschach or Bheeshma Parvam from 2022.So I wonder whats the issue. You can see BRs interview with DQ during Chup,they say something which we don't get.
