If I feel like looking at the news or other doom-scroll-y stuff, I take a moment to be mindful and then tune into some art and inspiration instead. It feeds that online craving but in a good way. Yes, off I go! I love looking through the New York City Library Digital Collection. Lots of public domain files there too. I've logged many hours looking for cool stuff and finding it. It is a bit fiddlely too, but worth the time to learn.
Hi Kathy. I've seen that, too. The UPenn library that does the Coffee with a Codex also has an enormous wealth of images. We are so blessed to live in a time when 21st century technology lets us enjoy antiquarian images. 😺

Hi Karen. The Marginalian is one huge rabbit hole of inspiration. It is also an antidote to the anger and fearmongering in the media. Public Domain Review is incredible as they find more obscure stuff that would easily have lost to time and our eyeballs but somehow they find it and get it out there - all of those ideas and creations and questions and exploring. There’s a reason I wait till I can give your content the time it deserves , thank you thank you! And in the US, you can download all this lovely content to your computer and then send it to Staples, to print yourself once you get there or have them print. A little pricey but great quality color laser prints.

Hi there, Sabine. It has been on my to-do list for ages to talk about some of teh less well known sites that are chock full of inspiration. And fun trivia, here in Britain overalls are called dungarees. (I'm bi-lingual!)😺
The Voynich Manuscript is a mysterious manuscript bound in codex format consisting of hand drawn and painted figures and strange plants. It, supposedly, is written in a language which has never been decoded. Although, very recently I believe some scholars have broken the code. Can be downloaded in pdf form. Very intriguing plants like an herbarium and funny people doing odd things.
Sam, this made me smile. I actually bought a fancy copy of the Voynich manuscript last year. It does not disappoint and has tons of journal inspiration. Thanks for the heads up on the web site. It will definitely be on the next list, as and when.

Hi Daisy. The answer is - maybe! Let me know more about what kind of questions you have so I can make sure I get the answer in there. The short answer is right click on an image and click copy then paste the image into Paint or other editor but perhaps you mean something else. Let me know and I'll try. Kelly
Thank you for replying. That may be the answer. I see so many beautiful printable and I am not sure if they are done by just using pictures from public domain, or would I need to hire someone to create these (printable) for me? I know there is something called a “design team,” but I am not sure if that is a team of people who create the images and pull them together to form a printable. I am not looking for anyone to explain or show me how to use illustrator or any other complicated method, but to simply be pointed in the right direction or shown how to create a (one)quality looking printable. I think they are so beautiful. Again, “if” this is not something you can do, I thank you for at least trying to help. Looking forward to more of your videos! Thank you.

We live on an orchard property in New Zealand beside a stream that has been rescued from cattle pollution and riparian planting is restoring the beauty. We have lived here since ‘77 and our kids, grandkids and now a great grandson have explored…probably doing things that would make our hair curl had we known! It is just glorious.

I only just found your lovely video and recommendations (knew of some, some are new!), so I'm late to the game but will contribute anyway. Some sites that have free vintage images are Heritage Type, The Graphics Fairy, Old Book Illustrations and Project Gutenberg (which is more about copyright-free books, but I love the illustrations in old children's books). For photos, there's always Unsplash and similar sites for current royalty-free images, but so many vintage treasures can be found on Flickr under The Commons and the Smithsonian Institution, for example, and there's an oddly captivating "Sociological Record" collection compiled by Zofia Rydet in Poland after WWII. Isn't the internet a wonderful place when you want it to be? ❤❤

I donate to The Commons as it is such an important resource and I get way more out of than Netflix. Hi Liz, thanks for this. I always love to know what people are wondering about. If you mean printing in a printer, for something like this video or text I use the cheapest recycled paper I can get and I always print on the back to make it go further. If I am printing to use in a project I use a higher quality paper. Mine is by Navigator and it is designed for colour documents and has ultra high definition. It is also heavier then regular printer paper but not as heavy as card. I love it. Let me know if that was the answer to the right question!

Hi Karen. The Marginalian is one huge rabbit hole of inspiration. It is also an antidote to the anger and fearmongering in the media. Public Domain Review is incredible as they find more obscure stuff that would easily have lost to time and our eyeballs but somehow they find it and get it out there - all of those ideas and creations and questions and exploring. There’s a reason I wait till I can give your content the time it deserves , thank you thank you! And in the US, you can download all this lovely content to your computer and then send it to Staples, to print yourself once you get there or have them print. A little pricey but great quality color laser prints.

The Voynich Manuscript is a mysterious manuscript bound in codex format consisting of hand drawn and painted figures and strange plants. It, supposedly, is written in a language which has never been decoded. Although, very recently I believe some scholars have broken the code. Can be downloaded in pdf form.
Very intriguing plants like an herbarium and funny people doing odd things.
Sam, this made me smile. I actually bought a fancy copy of the Voynich manuscript last year. It does not disappoint and has tons of journal inspiration. Thanks for the heads up on the web site. It will definitely be on the next list, as and when.

Hi Daisy. The answer is - maybe! Let me know more about what kind of questions you have so I can make sure I get the answer in there. The short answer is right click on an image and click copy then paste the image into Paint or other editor but perhaps you mean something else. Let me know and I'll try. Kelly
Thank you for replying. That may be the answer. I see so many beautiful printable and I am not sure if they are done by just using pictures from public domain, or would I need to hire someone to create these (printable) for me? I know there is something called a “design team,” but I am not sure if that is a team of people who create the images and pull them together to form a printable. I am not looking for anyone to explain or show me how to use illustrator or any other complicated method, but to simply be pointed in the right direction or shown how to create a (one)quality looking printable. I think they are so beautiful. Again, “if” this is not something you can do, I thank you for at least trying to help. Looking forward to more of your videos! Thank you.

We live on an orchard property in New Zealand beside a stream that has been rescued from cattle pollution and riparian planting is restoring the beauty. We have lived here since ‘77 and our kids, grandkids and now a great grandson have explored…probably doing things that would make our hair curl had we known! It is just glorious.

I only just found your lovely video and recommendations (knew of some, some are new!), so I'm late to the game but will contribute anyway. Some sites that have free vintage images are Heritage Type, The Graphics Fairy, Old Book Illustrations and Project Gutenberg (which is more about copyright-free books, but I love the illustrations in old children's books). For photos, there's always Unsplash and similar sites for current royalty-free images, but so many vintage treasures can be found on Flickr under The Commons and the Smithsonian Institution, for example, and there's an oddly captivating "Sociological Record" collection compiled by Zofia Rydet in Poland after WWII. Isn't the internet a wonderful place when you want it to be? ❤❤

Hi Liz, thanks for this. I always love to know what people are wondering about. If you mean printing in a printer, for something like this video or text I use the cheapest recycled paper I can get and I always print on the back to make it go further. If I am printing to use in a project I use a higher quality paper. Mine is by Navigator and it is designed for colour documents and has ultra high definition. It is also heavier then regular printer paper but not as heavy as card. I love it. Let me know if that was the answer to the right question!
