  • Your taxes are gone! Why Jamaica spent 1.3 billion on Harmony Beach Park. I was lucky to get a full interview with Dr.Carey Wallace, an Executive Director of Tourism Enhancement Fund, and asked him the question - Where does money go from tourism in Jamaica?
In this episode, you will find the answer to this question and using the opportunity, I would also like to share one of the examples: the story of the new face of Montego Bay, Jamaica. The story of Harmony Beach Park.

I have been sending emails to many of the ministries in Jamaica for the past 5 years encouraging them to build more green spaces/parks for people to recreate on the island. I live in Maryland, US which is about the size of Jamaica. Maryland is filled with parks and activity centers for public use. Taxpayer dollars pay for these amenities. I am glad to see that the Government is doing something about this very needed change in society. I hope they build up some activity centers with swimming pools in the country too so that the children can learn to swim. Many boys used to drown in the river when I was growing up there as a child.

They are not sleeping, but they are often limited by all sorts of rules and regulations and cannot be free to create content the way they want. Whoever pays - controls journalism. In my case - CZcams advertisement and policy is the control of what I create, but it's not too bad. It prevents me from doing certain things - e.g. I cannot feature a child in the video at close-up without a special permission (notice how in this video all children were filmed at a distance) or the video can get flagged if I chose "inappropriate" topics, but at least it doesn't push me into writing things I don't want to write.

Well I'm not a montegonion but I absolutely love it!!. Loved the way you structured the Vlog, and shed some light on just how some of these capital projects are funded.
And of course the biggest part of it is that it's a FREE public park, with free to use amenities. We often say that we the locals don't get to enjoy the beauty of our country that much; well, this is one example where the government actually took something that the public enjoyed and made it much much more enjoyable.
