  • Returning Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger stands to earn up to $27 million in each of the two years he is under contract to lead the Walt Disney Company.
    An SEC filing disclosed earlier today outlines Iger’s potential earnings, as he retakes the helm as chief executive. Iger, who held the CEO role for 15 years at Disney before stepping down, signed on to a new contract yesterday, agreeing to serve from November 20, 2022, through December 31, 2024. The exact amount of Iger’s pay will ultimately depend on the company’s ability to meet performance measures.
    According to the SEC filing, Iger will receive a $ 1 million annual base salary with the opportunity to earn an additional $1 million annual incentive bonus, if performance goals set by the Board of Directors and an appointed “Compensation Committee” are ultimately met. Iger also stands to earn an additional $25 million in long-term incentive awards, allowing for the CEO to earn up to $27 million each of the two years of the contract.

      It seems odd that Elon Musk manages roughly half the number of people between his 3 companies (unless I’m missing something) and makes exponentially more. Less than 50 million vs (I’m not 100% sure what it is at the moment) 250 billion. Given that context; I don’t understand why some people are so upset at Iger, given this context. Also, for more context - I worked an entry level job at the Disney Reservation Center (call center) and made between 45,000 - 50,000 (it wasn’t commission based but there were bonuses and incentives so that’s why the fluctuations). It’s totally possible to make at least decent money at Disney, you just need to know where to work

    • @joshemane
      @joshemane Před rokem

      Although, I’m still sour about this even though it’s years later - I would have made $2250 additional one month but someone gave me a bad survey because he was upset since I told him they don’t offer dialysis in the parks, and that disqualified me from the bonus. So, don’t leave bad surveys for people, folks. Write comments, but give people all 10’s

    I really don't think Igers going to be able to pull enough magic. Disney has out priced themselves on the very people that kept the company going since its inception. It's just a different world now. The parks depend on returning customers. Not just AP holders but international guests and they can't afford it anymore. Wealthier people don't have the interest to keep returning.
    Disney needs middle class returning every year.
    Also, they should have just leased out their IP to Netflix and others instead of having to spend Billions in acquisitions to feed Disney+
