Think a paid 2400 which was one of the most expensive bikes in the shop at the time.
In defence of the rim brakes: those were essentially 26” rotors, and braking didn’t put the spokes under tension (much closer to where the braking was required), so they were quite good, enough to buck you off the bike just low disc brakes. What more do you want?

if it costs $800 immediately send it to me! 😁😁😁
Haha! Just as long as my wife thinks it cost $800 we're in good shape!! 😂
Imagine a bike like that being 800 bucks, we’d all be shredding!
In defence of the rim brakes: those were essentially 26” rotors, and braking didn’t put the spokes under tension (much closer to where the braking was required), so they were quite good, enough to buck you off the bike just low disc brakes. What more do you want?
This happened to me a few years ago when I bought a 2019 Stumpjumper (short travel). The bike I had before that was a 2005 Santa Cruz Bullit.
Sooo true! The last bike I got was a carbon fiber frame xc Scott Spark in 2011, and it was 2.5k. Now you can't find something like that for less then 4 or 5k, it's insane.
Not to mention the DH bikes, I had an entry level one in 2007 or 2008 for 3k. Now those entry level models are like 6k minimum...
Still got my 2000 model Pacific 8500, 24-speed mountain bike. It is in MINT condition with 1 mile on it. Gonna keep it - a few more years it'll be an antique!
"only 800 darling" one thing never changes 😂
Not gonna lie I'd do 50% of that especially the "what does this do?"
The fact he found a bike like that for 800 bucks is absolutely insane
Bro, that would cover the cassette and tires! I get a new bike every year! I just ordered the 24 Supercaliber 9.9 XO! 34 days and counting! 🤙🏻
🤣🤣🤣the bouncing the front wheel was me and asking the staff what does this do🤣🤣🤣
Bought my cannondale 800€ back in 2010. Equipped with SLX and Deore... Things are getting out of control now !
