Yes! I play this in a medly with Flowers of Edinburgh I leant it as a child from an Aly Bain book but couldnt remember the name i just watched this and thought thats my tune i do but it wasnt called that! thanks for putting me out of my misery :) love walsh bluegrass version though :D
It's called Hokum bowing and is banned in some Bluegrass competitions as it detracts from the melody and too many folk were playing Hokum. But I agree it's a great showing off technique 🎻🎶🎻🎶🎻
@@TheWendable you got this! It’s such a fun tune. I had to play several times( hours) slowly. Eventually my fingers new where to go and the bowing got easier as well.
That song is called the Deil amang the Taylors and is originally Scottish. presumably taken there a long time ago.

Excellent lesson. Clear, concise instruction. This is very helpful for me right now as I am currently learning this turne. Thanks Ian!
great stuff, thanks Ian.
Thanks. Love it! As a guitar player, 1:48 reminds me of a lick I have heard in some other generas of music. My fav part.

Lookin at that bald finger board I reckon you play hard at least 6 hours a day 🎻
I'd give my right arm to play like that.
I can only play straight 😎
Wow! Why does your playing sound like slicing butter and mine sounds like nails down a chalkboard? Maybe I need new fingers? 🤔
I found relaxing my bow hand where I’m barely griping the bow makes this easier to play
