    Such a timely episode. I'm in that season of living in town, no fence, little kids, no family or friends near by. And I also find myself falling into the self pity trap of "oh poor me, my expectations werent met." Really enjoyed listening and found this so relatable and helpful. Thank you. ❤

    Love this. My life-giving things are getting my house cleaned and organized so the space around me doesn’t add to the mental overload, and going thrifting without the kids 💛

      Same! When I am without kids, I love getting my home in order. It brings me peace. People always chide me for not resting but they seem to conflate rest with leisure. Having my home put together is very restful and life giving for me.

    This episode was life giving! I struggle with the guilt of being away from my kids for any amount of time. Growing up my mom always told me that moms don’t need breaks (we went to public school)😂😂😂 as a homeschooler I can confidently say that I do need a break once in awhile! I love to walk around in my garden while my kids play in their jungle gym, just a little bit, every now and then is refreshing!

      Unfortunately I was raised with the same mindset and instead of feeling guilty I feel angry when I need a break. Then I feel angry that I'm angry. Or annoyed, really. Gardening and building a life with my kids that is visually rewarding for those kiddos and me really was a game changer. Letting them play while I do the hard stuff in the garden is also therapeutic because digging in that dirt and expending that energy really does help in moments when you are just over the top frustrated.

    I totally reacted and was overwhelmed in the early days of motherhood and can relate to some of the things that probably a lot of moms go through and am glad that I was able to target things and work on them early on. I enjoyed listening to what Elizabeth stated throughout this.

    This was so so helpful. I should have listened to it the moment it came out. My husband is a full time first responder who works 24hr shifts and is also in the military, so learning how to make time for myself has been extremely challenging. As I learn to navigate motherhood, your channels have been such a blessing to my family and home.

    I think what you were trying to say is " what happens when you give yourself too much self care? Like you're becoming selfish and selfcentered and need a reality check?" because 1) we can fall into this trap 2) we can believe we are doing this when we're not

    For me, the reason it was hard to ask for help is because the people I had accepted help from in the past overstepped their boundaries with me and my kids in some pretty hurtful ways and it damaged a few relationships. I was trying to avoid that from happening again.

    No matter how hard I try, this may come out wrong, but I feel this vibe I am feeling needs to be said. I love Lisa, avidly watch Farmhouse on Boone, know she is a faith-based person and respect her immensely.
    This guest, and another recent guest, come across as women of the Christian Nationalist faith. I am not saying they are, but the extremely soft-spoken, almost childlike voice reminds me of the Duggar family. It also reminds me of the CZcamsr who was recently jailed for abusing her children. It disturbs me on so many levels and it surprises me that these two women are guests on this channel.
    My opinion of Lisa is so far from how I feel about these women, that I am surprised she chose them to interview. It makes me second guess the foundation of these channels.

      Hey! So great to connect. Congrats on your pregnancy! When I had my little ones I would use the first nursing session in the morning to pray, listen to worship or devotional. Now that my youngest is almost 3 I am able to get up before my kids and have that alone time. It gives me so much more capacity!

    This episode came at just the right time for me! I will definitely be checking out her podcast. It is hard for me, especially as an introvert, to get thru to my husband (an extrovert), of my need for time to myself or to do things only I enjoy. The last time I went out with just 1 child, he was calling and texting me, complaining that I was out too long. Any advice on dealing with this aspect?

    • @emotionallyhealthylegacy
      @emotionallyhealthylegacy Před měsícem +1

      Hey! I'm glad you found this episode helpful! It can be so tricky when husbands do that. It might be very helpful to have a proactive conversation with him about this. What you need to help yourself feel better - time to yourself for 2 hours without any calls or texts unless it's an emergency. Give him a list of things that he needs to know to take care of the kids. Also- this takes time. The more he does it the better it will get. He needs more opportunities with the kids alone so he can practice how to meet their needs and connect with them :)

    I am really struggling with this! I am a widow to nine children and I am struggling with being bitter and angry especially when I have a child that spews hurtful angry things to purposely hurt or get a reaction. I have not been engaging in his anger, but it is still emotionally draining. I just wish it was me who went to heaven and not my husband so many times. I just want to get away for a while and not have to have the responsibility of everything weighing on my shoulders.

Lean into Jesus. He is there in the hurt.

      Oh sweet mama! I am so sorry for what you are going through. The circumstances are very hard and I can see why you would feel this way. Do you have family or friends or church family that can help you and support you? You are not meant to do this alone.

    • @fertilehomestead8879
      @fertilehomestead8879 Před měsícem +1

      @emotionallyhealthylegacy I have people that I can text, and they pray. But, I share things with people, and no one does the hard job of trying to talk to everyone as a family unit and help me with them. Even though I asked our pastor at the time months ago to help me and talk with the children. No one is willing to do that. We have since left that church because it was three other people beside our family. But, other places, people are, I guess, too busy or don't know how to help or it is just too messy.
      Thank you for your prayers. God knows I could use them.
