You can also drill a hole (with a Dremel) in the mica sheet and connect the two cables..it also works fine ;-)
I'm amazed that the repair lasts more than a couple of weeks! Wouldn't it have been a lot simpler to simply get some copper foil to use. I gave up on performing repairs of this sort, but I still try to think of ways it might be done at home.
The copper foil would not have been durable enough for this repair. When I looked into the replacement panels, they had changed the design from the beautiful mica sheets to a modern composite material. I will continue to repair the unit as many times as I need to. It is fun.
Salve, scusa avrei bisogno di restaurare completamente un tostapane del 1930. All'interno vi sono 3 fogli di mica molto sporchi e bruciati che ho intenzione di cambiare. Sui nuovi dovrò avvolgere del filo di ferro come conduttore di elettricità e questo dovrà venire incandescente ma non ci sono lavori simili in italiano. Mi puoi aiutare?
Quello che avvolge la mica è realmente e normale filo di ferro? E i contatti a ponte come vanno fatti?
