I'm really disappointed that Gem wasn't the key to getting home. as some one who goes between the two universes I would have thought she was the catalyst.
I really like this but the reason that this couldn't work was because she went through the rift on the hermitcraft side, and then her two selves just effectively merged. She couldn't get back on the hermitcraft sever by just logging in, (although obviously they all could, just this is lore so she can't.), and was stuck on just the empires side. Eventually lore was a little broken when the cross-over was done, but that's why. The same thing happened with False, but instead of merging, there was just two Falses, and neither of them knew each other. She also couldn't go back because her hermitcraft self went through the rift.

I'm still trying to figure out if Grian inputs the answers and Grumbot is dishing them out for some lore storyline progression that they all know about or if it's an actual freaking AI in Minecraft.

When they were screaming that they didn’t want the hermits to go home it sounds like every sleepover I ever had ever
The hermits being condensed in such a small area could be a cool concept for a future season of Hermitcraft where the Hermits all live and set up shops in a Tower of Babel-esque building (starting from near Y-negative 64) up to build limit with multiple branching buildings to compensate for any lag caused by farms. Of course, you can still build far from the tower, but everyone is required to collaborate and set up their base next to everyone else.
Grian’s character arc is complete when he either creates a robot capable of being happy on its own, OR sets an AI free to learn to live for itself.
What number robot is this? 4? 5? 😅

I love how in Empires SMP it’s all lore and as soon as everyone goes over to Hermitcraft, it’s just cracking jokes.
That's because the Hermits don't really have lore, they have the occasional intermission segments that happen. This will likely feel like a short vacation for the empire server. You know, until they get homesick.
