Several hundreds of snow geese join Sandhill cranes in winter months at the Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area. The Snow Goose is a white-bodied medium sized goose with a long neck, pink bill and legs, and black-tipped wings. The black on their wings is visible while in flight rather than on the ground.
Dark morph adults are dark slaty-gray with white face.
They migrate from their northern breeding grounds in huge flocks, often in thousands to south wintering grounds and stay there from fall to early spring.
