On my starter the rotor ate a little bit of the round hole on the cover where the brushes are and it runs against the side in the middle of the starter

"if you hold your mouth just right..." :-)
Thank you for the reminder. I've found this technique useful in several other applications that range from replacing the blade guard on my miter saw, to getting Rory McElroy's putt to fall on the 14th hole at the Congressional.

Hello there! I enjoyed your video and I find it very useful. Recently I bought a 1978 Goldwing and I started working on it. Nothing really inside the engine besides Carburetors, engine oil, oil filter, timing belts and points… well today I got in trouble  my clutch cable broke and I don’t know how to reattach the end that goes to the clutch… if you have a video will you please send me a link to save my life? I wish you the best and thank you very much!

Hey man liked the video. Ive got a 94 honda shadow vt 1100. Im pretty sure the starter clutch is shot, because all it does is free spins and never engages when i try to start it up. Is the replacement procedure the same? Do you have any links you could refer me to on this. Thanks

I am just about to make a purchase of an ‘82 GoldWing with a faulty starter. I’m hoping I can simply repair or replace the starter and not have to pull the engine to replace the sprocket or chain or clutch. That would just set me back big time.

good night, my name is Marcio, hostaria to take a doubt with you and ask for help ... I have a GL 1000 77, I love my motorcycle, but I am a problem that I cannot identify ... every time I start the bike, when leaving with the engine a little cold (not at the ideal temperature) when leaving with the motorcycle slowly releasing the clutch the motorcycle makes a strange noise as if it had scraped something on the engine and the motorcycle jerks as if the clutch is being released abruptly ... but it ends up stopping as soon as the engine warms up and the bike moves for a few minutes ... I even thought that it could be the "tired" clutch springs, since the clutch does not slip. my friend, do you have any idea what is going on? thank you so much

The starter on my 86 1200a sometimes locks up when starting. I can keep bumping the starter switch until it frees up & starts or I have put it in gear & rocked it to get it free. Sometimes it starts just fine. Any suggestions on what to look at? The starter, solenoid, battery and connections have all checked out OK??

what causes slippage? bad motor for the starter ot actually the starter clutch? I hit the switch motor spins, then grind/catch then itll do it again ot itll start...if tilted to the left it almost is guaranteed to start 1st/2nd time no games. if tilted to right itll give issue more persistently. ....10w40 in er

Does anyone even drive goldwings anymore every video I find is fairly old. I just got my barn find 78 gl1000 running an I only paid $350 for it it's been sitting for some years for sure but I purchased a set of points an a coil but then realized I didn't have my points cam on the advancer so I actually hand made one from some hard plastic with sandpaper and a file and then coated it with a thin layer of jb weld. It only took like 5 hours of shaving it down to size to get the lobes just right but got it perfect the first try of putting it on the bike. When I finish it I'll post videos jus gotta clean it up visually and then clean the carbs.

I hope this isn’t the current problem with my bike. Starter turns but the engine doesn’t turn over.
